Excuse me?
> We even stood up a replication feed of their own control-plane database using credentials committed in their own repositories

using @PlanetScale is so nice with agents
after making an account, the agent signed up for billing, swapped over a staging database from supabase, duplicated all the data over, set everything up, updated my vercel envs all from a single prompt
this would've taken me like a day manually trying to navigate AWS myself

Cancelling free plan was the best thing @PlanetScale could have done. Right before the vibecoding wave, which was in retrospect the best timing. @samlambert keep pumping more awesome affordable tech.

It's been one month since we released the Neki platform preview.
Since then we've added $50 Metal nodes, improved Postgres compatibility, read-only replicas, Azure support, and much more.

There's an obvious way to build a database router. We didn't do that.
Nothing's faster than doing nothing. See how we built Neki with the laziest Postgres router possible.

PlanetScale has db deletion protection, can block agents from shipping destructive schema changes, limit the resources they can consume, and quickly revert a bad deploy without losing the writes that happened in between.
Let your agents cook. Safely.
opus 5.5 just deleted my database
always thought something like this would never happen to me
luckily it was only my dev database, but it also had access to production
just a reminder how important database backups are, especially now that we're letting ai agents do more and more things on their own
i can totally see this happening to a lot of people
be careful out there guys
