My paper on Voss's material (and mineral) poetics, that I was fortunate enough to win @ASAustLit A. D. Hope Prize for earlier this year, has now been published on @AustLitJournal, freely available to read here:

My top 10 Australian books votesfor the ABC. Strong bias toward the contemporary in their list that I maybe reacted against that (also among their oversights was no Kinsella!). Coetzee’s Disgrace would have been in but couldn’t call it justifiably call it Australian.

I’m chairing this fabulous @IntlAusStudies award this year — please encourage your HDR students & ECR colleagues to submit! Wonderful that Kay Schaffer’s intellectual legacy continues, including in my @UQCom_Arts u’grad classes

Haul from amazing Archive Fine Books in Brisbane - very pleased with all of them, especially Kinsella’s Night Parrots (which I’ve been after for years).
Had an amazing week last week at ASAL at UQ in Brisbane. It was great to present to colleagues by re-reading some of Henry Lawson’s overlooked short stories from far Western New South Wales in terms of the calamitous Federation Drought (with a joke or two to lighten the doom).

It was the Scummo Morrison government that started to charge an outrageous $50,000 for an Arts degree. To its shame and disgrace, the ALP government carried it on. theguardian.com/australia-ne…

The Job-Ready Graduates scheme doubled the cost of arts, law, finance and economics degrees.
It's now been in place longer under Anthony Albanese than Scott Morrison.
It's been described as the worst thing ever to happen to HECS.
It has contributed to a cost-of-learning crisis which is preventing graduates from buying homes and starting families.
The Job-Ready Graduates Scheme must go.
