Aditya 369 and Bhairava dweepam - legendary movies! Another star reaches the skies..
Singeetam Srinivas Rao Garu passes away. The last surviving member of the cast and crew of Mayabazaar. Asst. director to legendary KV Reddy. Made a movie combining sci-fi with history( Aditya 369) Made a silent movie( Pushpak) Made a Janapada movie( Bhairava Dweepam) Made a biopic featuring the real life protagonist as heroine( Mayuri) Made some of the most iconic comedies( Apoorva Sahadoragal, Micheal Madan Kama Raju, Brundavanam). Great combo with Dr. Rajkumar in Kannada- Bhagyadalakshmi Baramma, Halu Jenu, Chalisuva Modagalu all time hits. Great combo with Kamal Hassan in Tamil- Pushpa, Apoorva Sahadoragal, Raja Parvai, MMKR. No sleaze, no cussing around, no gratititous violence, just clean entertainment. At age of 94 once again made Sing Geetham with a different storyline. In an age when every two bit movie maker imagines themselves to be another Kurosawa or Kubrick, this man has such a solid legacy, which will be hard for any one to replicate. Deserves the Dadasaheb Phalke award more than some of the recent winners. A true LEGEND.

Definitely read the first part more than the adieu letter. It reads like bhartruhari's subhashitalu
You need to stop and read this again… Warren Buffet’s final words of advice from his very last annual letter 🥹 "One perhaps self-serving observation. I’m happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don’t beat yourself up over past mistakes – learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them. You can start with Tom Murphy; he was the best. Remember Alfred Nobel, later of Nobel Prize fame, who – reportedly – read his own obituary that was mistakenly printed when his brother died and a newspaper got mixed up. He was horrified at what he read and realized he should change his behavior. Don’t count on a newsroom mix-up: Decide what you would like your obituary to say and live the life to deserve it. Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government. When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it’s hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior. I write this as one who has been thoughtless countless times and made many mistakes but also became very lucky in learning from some wonderful friends how to behave better (still a long way from perfect, however). Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman." And then today, his last letter to shareholders as chairman…

great feature in screener!
The best use of Screener AI, in my opinion, is evaluating promoter quality. I asked: "Is Innova Captab's management trustworthy or not?" It went through 1,171 pages of annual reports, concalls, and filings to compare management's promises with actual execution. Cost: ~₹35 [Just compare it with how many manual hours it will take to get this data.] If you don't know the company's history, it's an excellent way to verify whether management consistently delivers on what it says. Worth every rupee. Sharing the output: screener.in/ai/usage/2126084…

Zebra in lion country - hcl tech!
In a first move of its kind, IT services company HCL Tech to back India’s LLM play. HCL tech to buy 10.46% in Sarvam AI for ₹1427 crore at a valuation of $1.5 billion @CNBCTV18News @CNBCTV18Live @hcltech @SarvamAI @pratykumar @RoshniNadarHCL #HCLTech #Sarvam

100%, we can't give gyaan on LLM layer getting commoditized and sacrifice national interest! Wish more IT services companies come forward like HCL tech and fund native LLMs. Badly want Sarvam to succeed!
This is big: all access to Mythos and Fable AI models disabled for everyone outside America. First thoughts: 1. Technology is the ultimate weapon. National sovereignty, national security, all of it is now about technology. 2. Globalization is dead and Bharat must find her own way ahead. We must keep these two ideas in mind. What can our government do right now? Ensure that orgs in India embrace smaller models, both Indian and Chinese open source ones. With a bit of effort, we can make them work. Anyway, why pay money to people who don't even want to sell to you? We must deepen our R&D. Sarvam has been on it and we have been on it but remember that the latest models cost not only huge GPU budgets to train, the GPUs themselves are restricted. So we can't afford the scale of money (of the order of $100+ billion to even get in the game!) and even if we could come up with the money, we can't get all the GPUs. I would not like to ask the government to fund tens of billions of dollars on this anyway - the money has far better uses. Zoho has been pursuing alternative R&D approaches that are far, far less expensive but by its nature cutting edge R&D takes time and we are patient. I am confident we will get there. Any remaining people in India who have delusions about globalization should wake up now.

I was tired of manually downloading earnings transcripts every quarter, so I built a local tool to automate it: - Auto-pulls Qtr docs via Screener login - Grabs YouTube earnings videos - Instantly creates a fresh NotebookLM workspace @faltoo @EkanshMittal_KW @screener_in

Isnt that the point? if others invest more, Kotak lends more and his ROE improves - Bank's RoA is still very decent!
Mr Uday kotak is sitting on excess capital and depressed ROE but advising others to invest for future

Very sad to see him go, this instance alone is sufficient to attest his character! And the humor he brought to chess commentary is a stand out too, like Anish Giri's...
The greatest demonstration of nobility and kindness that Daniel Naroditsky had is here. He beats Ivanchuk on time. His rival breaks down in tears from frustration. Naroditsky, very respectfully, stays seated in his place and doesn't leave. A great human being.

Nice idea
Found this Tiruppur based garment mfrs on insta ads and decided to try out. Turned out to be really good fit. They sell at factory prices, half or 1/3rd of showroom price. Support a local mfr from Ludhiana Tiruppur in this time. I got from here. pitshirts.in/collections/cot…

Nice one!
The beauty of boring! What a wonderful letter by Neville Noronha in DMart’s annual letter. Having had the pleasure of knowing him, I can vouch for everything he’s written and stands for. Among of the rarest of all business leaders we have :) Must read :)

Thanks @LTV_CAC for this. Quant and fundamental investors are divergent in their world views about investing. In this we discuss: 1) Benefits to blending both 2) Groundwork that a quant investor should do 3) Quant principles that fundamental investors can benefit from

It is truly unfathomable how this kid would come from a country with no chess culture and not only become World Champion, but inspire generations of Indian kids to push chess forward. The legend, @vishy64theking! Huge congratulations to India for winning the @ChessOlympiad!
