Private schooling for a wealthy minority is the cause of so many problems in our society, media & politics. Like Finland, kids should be educated in government funded & supervised schools, eating free school meals together to build shared values, understanding & citizenship.

Starmer thought he could lazily con members, voters, then everyone with the UK Press/Media to sell his slack-jawed shit for him ā€˜Small Beer’ Burnham looks to be working the same con with additional elbow grease & forelock tugging masquerading as the little man being restrained
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced five "everyday fixes" ahead of the Budget 1. Carer's Allowance will be changed so carers no longer lose their entire benefit when they earn over the limit - instead, their support will reduce by £1 for every extra £1 they earn 2. Import tariffs will be removed on more than 100 products, including baked beans, chocolate and gherkins, to save households up to £21 on their food shop a year 3. Tax-free mileage rates for workers using their own cars will be made permanent at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, with the rate for additional miles rising from 25p to 35p 4. Parental pay will be extended to over 150,000 more parents a year, including self-employed fathers and partners 5. Hundreds more Post Office drop boxes will be rolled out to save people queueing at branches

This is nonsense. You may have taken a leave of absence but you remain a peer and you can sit in the Lords again. You enjoy a formidable network and considerable influence because of that status. It's a revolving door and you are cynically swinging through it.
Mr Polanski, I know you have a reputation for being scrupulous about checking your facts, but you’ve missed an important detail. My contract requires me to remain on leave from the Lords, surrender my parliamentary pass and forgo all access and voting rights for the duration of my employment at Palantir. I do not, therefore, take any whip. I fear this makes me rather less useful to the whips’ office than you imply.

You’re about to see the UK Government put Israel before any UK MP, or MSP too.

Believe me that I don't exaggerate when I say this: I am thankful to be alive and hear these words said where Western audiences can hear them. This monologue is as revolutionary and meaningful as Rosa Park' refusal to move to the black people section of a bus, 71 years ago in Montgomery, Alabama. Lubna Speitan seals her place in the chronicles of the struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom and dignity - now followed and supported by billions of people around the world. I waited so long, so eagerly, to hear these transformative words; all of humanity did. EVery schoolboy and schoolgirl in the world need to know this
Watch this. Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion ā€œZionism is racismā€, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists. ā€œWe as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.ā€ /1

I wonder if the Burnham government will issue an immediate set of responses in relation to this much more credible and properly researched report? Or will it, instead, end bin collection in Birmingham because the Green Party believes the ideology behind those crimes is racist.

Notice how they only use super close up shots here so they don't give the game away that she has little to no supporters.
Venezuela's opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, has returned home after almost a year in exile. The Nobel peace prize winner has not been seen in the country since deposed president Nicolas Maduro was captured by the US military in January and held in New York on charges including Narco-terrorism. Machado was barred from running for president against Maduro in 2024 and went into hiding before secretly leaving the country in November 2025. Supporters believe Machado's return will put more pressure on the country's interim government, which is backed by the Trump administration, to hold democratic elections. #News #Channel4News #Venezuela #Machado #World

Today Israeli authorities barred me and other European elected representatives from entering the West Bank to meet Palestinian students and civil society leaders, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. We knew that by crossing into the occupied Palestinian territories, we risked being detained, interrogated and turned away by Israeli authorities. And that, alas, is exactly what happened. For more than eight hours, we were held, interrogated and made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by attempting to enter. The simple truth is we had done nothing wrong. We went to show our support for the Palestinian people and highlight the terrible injustice and violence being perpetrated against them. We want to ensure that people back home do not look away from the reality of what is happening. Ultimately, we went to show solidarity. But we left with an even greater determination to speak out. We will not be silenced, and we will not look away. None of us should.

I can't stop thinking of how Apartheid Israel has killed Palestinian media workers (~300) and their relatives (700+), making Gaza the deadliest place for journalists EVER. Time to make sure the genocidaires and their cheerleaders are held to account.

Andrew’s type of guys have been in charge for five decades, at this point. If state capacity is too enfeebled to fight a war as a result, the I can see exactly where to point fingers.

I would, very much, like to deny Israel the right to implement a racist apartheid genocidal state, predicated on the forced displacement of the indigenous population. Yes.
Replying to @PhilipProudfoot
The right for a Jew to be able to self determine their own future in their ancestral home, the birthplace of Judaism is not racist If you think otherwise, and want to deny Jews that right , you’re racist It’s that simple

I don’t know, it seems to me the kids may have been right about their ruling class being full of very racist, misogynist sex offenders. Perhaps that whole Cancel Culture panic was badly wrong, and apologies are in order? Not least because it was obviously vexatious *at the time*.

Excellent visual summary of my last report on MEDIA and Genocide ā–¶ļøIsrael has tried all it could to eliminate professional reporting from/on Gaza: through propaganda, censorship, influencers ā–¶ļøWestern media has often been Israel's house organ:for habit, convenience or just racism
Our latest highlights key findings from Francesca Albanese’s report, ā€œTruth Under the Rubble: Media in the Time of Genocideā€, exposing the systemic silencing of Palestinian journalists & the suppression of truth. Reshare to amplify findings & demand press freedom & accountability

There was no response form @robertshrimsley to this. That's because there isn't an answer. Antisemitism is a real evil AND There is an international campaign to weaponise it to shut down opposition to a Western ally's crimes. That's not happening with other forms of racism!
Replying to @robertshrimsley
You're not responding to a point I made? I said antisemitism is both a real and monstrous evil, and it is cynically weaponised to shut down opposition to what a consensus of genocide scholars consider to be genocide. That is what is different. There is not an internationally orchestrated campaign to use anti-Black racism to shut down scrutiny of a key Western ally, with mass deplatformings, sackings, arrests, imprisonment and even deportation as a consequence. You're not bothering to rebut this because there isn't a rebuttal. It is the obvious difference. The answer, of course, is to take action against actual antisemitism and not to shut down discussion of Israel's crimes. That includes defending a strict demarcation between Israel and its crimes, and the Jewish people as a whole. The trashing of this demarcation is driving antisemitism. That should be obvious. But both antisemites and Israel's cheerleaders both push this conflation. The government's report promotes the implementation of IHRA in schools. IHRA has been rolled out in universities and has been used to target opposition to Israel. The same is clearly going to happen in schools. Perhaps you could try and engage with these points? What is the rebuttal?
