HISTORIC FLORIDA RAINFALL: An unbelievable 20 - 24" of rain fell in just 12 hours across Southern Brevard County today, especially in Grant-Valkaria. Major flooding was reported from Palm Bay to Melbourne with water going into homes, cars stalled and roads closed.
Why did this happen? A nearly stationary boundary helped focus the activity, a disturbance provided additional lift, unusually high tropical moisture brought the juice while storms were "training" and raining over the exact same spots.
Could El Niño have influenced the broader weather pattern? It's possible, but that also doesn't mean every heavy rainfall event is caused by El Niño.

I don't trust this storm and we need to look into whether cloud seeding occurred. It was a plane, no missile, they died, the loss of pitch control is easily & fully explainable.
But not this bizarre weather pattern.
In all my years as a #Florida meteorologist I’ve NEVER seen anything like this. Several different areas have seen 1-2 feet of rain already… and it just keeps coming. This is current radar showing two training bands setting back up now. Multiple more inches of rain will fall on top of what has already fallen. Flash Flood Emergency Palm Bay and multiple Flash Flood Warnings.

Press Conference Following Today's Tragic Incident:
Governor Ron DeSantis joined local officials to give an update and address the community. The crash caused significant debris, damage to surrounding infrastructure, and prompted road closures and evacuations in the adjacent community. Approximately 600 residents are being assisted with temporary shelter and other essential needs.
