While I've covered numerous Gaza wars, this one has been harrowing and long. Awakened by Hamas rocket fire on October 7, 2023, I began covering the conflict from its very first day.
I think I may have accidentally found the most expensive coffee beans in Israel. I went to a small place in Tel Aviv yesterday, and after having some coffee I chose to buy a lb of it and the amount came to 175 NIS which is around $56...
I was in such a hurry to get back on the way toward the train that I didn't stop to consider that this was a very high price for coffee beans
My only question is whether they simply charged me incorrectly...or if it is that expensive...anyway I'm having now in my french press...
Every time there is a headline about something secret in the Middle East, but then it's made public and so it's obviously not secret, I think of that line in Animal House about Double Secret Probation

History is fascinating. My great grandpa was on the front with the Americans in WWI in the 26th Yankee Division
And my other great grandpa was an immigrant from Odesa who raised a family in NYC in the early 20th century and died young such that grandpa had to support a large family at a young age

Finally got my hands back onto a AK platform recently as Since 2024 I carried a AR type.
Ignoring its lack of extremely tight grouping ability, it’s slower safety and the other issues and needing to throw a bunch of aftermarket shit on it to really compete with a AR platform. (largely from just being an older style weapon).
I 100% miss the noise of the internals when you pull the trigger. It just sounds better.

Iran carried out new attacks targeting Kurdish Iranian opposition groups, with reports saying that Iran targeted a site linked to the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) in the Balisan Valley, northeast of Erbil.

Those were crazy days in 2017 when the PMF offensive, backed by Iraqi federal forces was stopped ; I think a few videos show PAK Peshmerga near Altun Kupri-Prde ; held the line

Three nights ago I had a dream about being under ballistic missile attack. It consisted of two dreams, one in which I was in Ukraine and another apparently in Israel; in dreams you never know exactly. But in the Ukraine part I felt I was in a forest near a crossroads with drones circling. In the Israel one, apparently from what I recall there were sirens of the type we are used to.
It was a dream, or rather two after being awoken from one and back to sleep. I guess influenced by reading the headlines and actual experience being under so many attacks
This is the problem with sitting up at night with a phone scrolling and also having experienced war in these two places…
