Yes.
Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking.
Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.

Academia runs on grant writing, not science.
And the longer you stay, the more you forget there’s a difference.

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦
Great day for getting out with the kids. Let’s all celebrate our Canada, the very best country in the world!

Hey everyone: haven’t done one of these in a while, but please remember - you are doing great.
Doing science is hard, and sometimes everything fits in nicely, sometimes nothing makes any sense.
You are doing. Great.
We’re proud of you.
Really, it doesn’t matter where you are.

Thrilled that our work on this problem with @KarelBrinda, @ZaminIqbal, and others is out in @naturemethods today!
We used phylogenetic compression (described in the thread) to compress every microbe ever sequenced onto a flash drive so that it can be searched with a laptop!

So we asked: what sets the fundamental limit on computation on large genomic databases? Evolution! The irreducible entropy in genome collections is bounded by the most parsimonious path to introduce that variability.
In other words, optimal compression should echo phylogeny.

Zymogen activation is a ubiquitous strategy for regulating enzyme activity. In our @jbiolchem paper led by @HuiquanDuan, we show that blocking this fundamental process is used to inhibit the first proteolytic event of the classical #complement pathway 👇

No, the point is to suppress science, using protesters as an excuse. This action doesn't stop a bunch of undergraduates from doing whatever.
They could have targeted something else on campus, but there is a war on NIH, and this is a convenient excuse.

Never before in our history has Canada been as united & patriotic. Millions of us are now doing the exact same thing when we wake up every morning - we check to see if “it” has finally happened. We’ll keep checking until that glorious day finally arrives.

Donald Trump has called for MSNBC Host Rachel Maddow to resign due to her critical coverage of the administration. He continues to try and attack the free press - but we won’t let him win.
RETWEET if you stand with @Maddow against Trump!
