The blunders Tata Consulting Services usage of AI is doing with our electoral rolls part of SIR
Election Commission’s software has made a massive blunder. It’s translating Hindi/Urdu names by treating them as if they were English. For example, the name was Muhammad Iqbal Beg, but the software turned it into “Mohammad Iqbal Bheek Mangte Hain”. Another example: A woman’s name was Phool Kali Devi, and the software changed it to “Murkh Kali Devi” . Absolute chaos, what’s going on?

Some facts and questions: Fact: This is actually a diversion of the Ganga, and not the actual river. Question: we often hear of aquatic life being found in the canals in these parts. Was that somehow considered in this decision?
They stopped the flow of the Ganga near Har ki paudi at Haridwar for next 18 days just so they can clean it before Diwali. And the moment the water level dropped the truth came out...the entire riverbed is buried under clothes, plastic bags, discarded slippers, and pure filth. The natural stones that should be there..but completely hidden under our garbage. Year after year the same story bhakts leave behind their waste the administration stops the water once a year, locals cleans up the mess we created and then we start dumping again the moment the water returns. 😒 You cant revere a river as divine and simultaneously turn her into a landfill. If this is how we treat the river we claim to worship then maybe we dontt deserve to call her MAA at all. Period !!

On 16 Oct around 11 pm, Odisha police picked up Dr Randall Sequeira and Laxman Naik without a warrant. Phones seized. Held overnight with no access to lawyers or family. Neither is named in the FIR. Dr Sequeira treats Adivasis in these hills. Laxman Naik is a Dalit leader of the Maa Mati Mali Surakhya Manch. They now face attempt to murder, dacoity and Arms Act charges. Bail refused. Courts are on vacation until 27 October. This is Fifth Schedule land. Kondh, Paraja and Dalit families have said no — these hills feed their streams, fields and the Indravati river. The Supreme Court upheld the same principle of gram sabha consent at Niyamgiri in 2013. The state’s answer so far: 43 police cases and more than 100 people jailed in three years. Every day these two spend in Rayagada jail is a warning to every village that resists. Defending jal-jangal-jameen is not a crime. Release Dr Randall Sequeira and Laxman Naik. #JalJangalZameen #AdivasiRights #FifthSchedule @aruna_sekhar @Prafulla1951 @Countercurrents @MaktoobMedia @RahulGandhi @INCOdisha @gutta_rohith @Jairam_Ramesh

People can have differences and nuanced takes on CJP but it is inexcusable to remain silent on the custody of Ashutosh and Saurav. This is an egregious violation of a citizen's liberty. Please speak up. If not on principle, than in self-interest, for this is setting a precedent.

The city has suffered a terrible incident with the stampede at Chorbagan. Many factors must have contributed to it. What is weird however is the right wing / BJP supporters on overdrive saying "don't politicise the incident" to any questions being asked. Sit down, idiots.

From the flyover collapse at Ganesh Talkies, to every small of big incident, the RW has politicised everything in Bengal. Asking questions is always welcome, but these idiots went well way beyond that & abused everyone. Now people should keep shut when incidents are happening?

At 10:30 pm last night, reports that @odisha_police detained Dr Randall Sequeira, doctor to Adivasi communities, and Laxman Naik, leader of affected villages opposing @Vedanta_Group’s mining in Niyamgiri and Sijimali. Their whereabouts are still unknown, no access to a lawyer.
NEW | Vedanta seems to be attempting to revive its stalled Niyamgiri bauxite mining project despite the Gram Sabhas’ rejection of mining in 2013, raising concerns that the Odisha government may be using the criminal justice system to weaken tribal resistance and clear the way for corporate interests. @Ayaskant_Das reports. frontline.thehindu.com/envir…

Abduction of citizens by cops in unmarked cars in the national capital in the presence of media can't be normalised. That is like the frog in the boiling water syndrome. The courts have to wake up and punish the top Delhi cop, make an example of him, lest we next see encounters.

Sorry twitter friends for yet another rant. A well funded NGO has word-to-word copied a WIP project design that I had shared (with sufficient details) with their staff last year when they came to me wanting to establish roots in Kolkata. Some things never change, I guess?

And tbh I'm happy that work is happening. That's what matters most. But bad behaviour needs to be addressed, otherwise it just continues building mistrust in an already trust deficit system. Citation / permission isn't very difficult if you don't want to be stealing. 🤷🏾
