Since we are into the week of Halloween I will show a couple of TV shows. Kolchak: the night stalker is a classic. I remember watching it when it was first on TV with my dad.

Other anthology series I liked in the 80s was the In Hell series, starting with Heroes in Hell. I always thought it would make a great TTRPG as well. Was thinking of doing a home brew Savage Worlds game someday.

I just got an email that my copy is arriving soon. Based on the Forgotten Ruin world.

Todays Halloween TTRP is a Horror scifi game called Mothership. If you like Alien or Event Horizon, this is the game for you. It is a simple character creation and the game has an official app to make characters and space ships.

Tonight’s Halloween Season movie is Pontypool, a Canadian movie. The movie takes place in a local radio station when violence breaks out in town. Unlike other “zombie” movies, it’s not a virus that starts it, it is language.

Another 80s series is an anthology series by Pournelle, the first one called There will be war. The anthology had both short stories and non fiction articles.

Today’s TTRPG for the Halloween season is All Flesh Must Be Eaten. As far as I can tell, it is the original Zombie Role Playing game.

Tonight’s Halloween season movie is The Waves of Madness. It’s a shorter movie (1hr 8 min) This movie is only for those that are interested in something completely different. The movie is black and white, and is shot almost like an old 2D video game. The characters move only left or right. They change levels in an elevator. And the actors almost talk like a stage play. The story is a cruise ship has gone off course and an automated message broadcast says not to approach. An agent is sent to find out what is going on. The movie has Russians, Cultists and monsters. When I first started it, I was not sure I would like it, but it grows on you as you get into what they are doing. I like it….. and if you watch it, check out the mid credit scene.

Another 80s series that involved Time Travel is Cross-Time Engineer. The series dealing with a Polish engineer that finds himself in 1231 AD and wants to stop the Mongrel Invasion that happens in 10 years.

Another horror TTRPG is the goat, Call of Cthulhu. This is the reprint of the first edition box as well as several modules.

Tonight’s Halloween season movie. The Empty Man. Unfortunately, the marketing not good for this movie and made people think it was a Candyman or Bloody Mary type of slasher. It is nothing like that. It is a slow burn movie with Mystery and horror parts. In the end I would call it a cosmic horror story. A man goes looking for the daughter of a friend that has gone missing.

A time travel book series from the 80s is Timewars. Time travel has caused issues so an organization is tasked with stopping the people that are trying to change History.

I don’t have many horror themed TTRPS, but most of what I do have are Lovecraft related. Eldritch Skies is a scifi horror game. This is a Savage Worlds version (I don’t know if there are other versions).

Tonight’s Halloween season movie is Butterfly Kisses. A Mocumentary about a found footage movie. It is different in that usually a movie is one or the other. The movie is one of the better movies of this type. The acting is pretty good in that I disliked the main guy looking into the found footage. I knew people like him. I hope he is not like this in real life. :-)

Tonight’s Halloween season movie is Iron Lung. The first time I have watched it. A movie by a YouTuber based on a video game. In the future, something happened and all the stars and planets vanished. Only some space stations and moons are left. People found one moon covered in human blood, and the movie takes place as a convict is lowered into a sea of blood in a submarine to explore. He has to take X rays to see what is out there.

Another post apocalyptic book series. Fire in the ashes. I think I had 3 of them at one point. Not sure what happened with my third book.

Since @Waynes_Books is doing a sale, I figured it would be the time to pick up something. I used to have the box set of Marvel Superheroes, and it was the 2nd RPG I played with a group after Traveller. I used to have a lot of the modules. Lost it moving after my 2nd divorce. I picked up the books and one of the modules. This one due to having memories playing this module in Highschool and shenanigans by teens. Captain America accidentally cut doc octopus in half and going insane.

Today’s RPG is The Secret World. A game based on a MMORPG that was out years ago. A modern action and horror game. This version is based on 5E. I picked it up because I liked the lore of the video game, but if I had known they would be doing a Savage Worlds version I would have waited. The new kickstarter dropping soon for Europe will be for both savage worlds and 5E.

Tonight’s Halloween season movie is Snatchers. A comedy horror movie. More comedy but has a lot of blood and gore. The movie deals with a girl that is trying to be one of the cool girls in school, she decides she wants to have sex for the first time with a guy that just came back from a vacation in Mexico. She wakes up 9 months pregnant a day later. At first I did not have high hopes for the movie, but it has some laugh out moments.

Whew. Voted today and got some prescriptions picked up. Sucks when you can’t drive for awhile . I did decide it was a good time to pick up a Chicago style pizza. I do that only once or twice a year. There are two places that make them, but they are both on the opposite side of town.
