Another major #eruption of #Ruang. Geostationary UV #GK2B GEMS data nicely capture the spreading #volcanic SO₂ cloud, including the #stratospheric overshoot drifting rapidly westwards. The SO₂ mass (~0.3 Tg) is very preliminary and needs confirmation from other sensors.

Satellite data from @CopernicusEU #Sentinel5P #TROPOMI show a band of #volcanic SO₂ advancing over the NW #UK and #Ireland on Aug 24, behind a cold front. Observations of SO₂ over Europe are set to improve (-> hourly) with the upcoming launch of the #geostationary #Sentinel4.
The largest #eruption on record of #Kanlaon/#Canlaon #volcano (#Philippines) on June 3 produced an upper tropospheric SO₂ cloud (~0.05 Tg SO₂), seen here from #geostationary orbit by #SouthKorea's UV #GK2B #GEMS sensor.

Some fotos of the volcanic haze across #Hebrides yest eve [courtesy HaMa Goede]. Visibility dropped suddenly from 50-75km to 3-6km with 2h, blue sky went brown, but cleared again later. SO2 values sky-rocketed!

A hotspot #volcano erupted over the weekend - but not where many people were expecting. The #eruption of #Fernandina (#Galápagos Islands, #Ecuador) is producing high SO₂ emissions, similar to its prior eruptions in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
