I can’t believe we’re at the point of society where we have to explain that the Empire was the bad guys in Star Wars

Excited to see how the “we’re like the Empire, from Star Wars” messaging plays out in the midterms

Three times in my career I’ve been really early, right about something, and wrong about timing.
In the early 2000s I was an advocate for Linux and actively working in the open source arena. I believed it would dominate operating systems and eat into Windows. But growth was too slow. I eventually started losing hope and moved on to other ventures. Two decades later, Android (based on Linux) is the dominant operating system on phones, and Linux is finally growing exponentially on desktop computers.
I was right, but not in the way I thought it would play out, and I was way too early.
In 2005 I believed podcasting would become a dominant form of broadcasting and erode listenership for terrestrial radio. I took what I’d learned from years on air and developed several shows, including one of the biggest podcasts on the continent, which led to appearances with @leolaporte and elsewhere. It was the most fun I ever had in broadcasting, but podcasting wasn't taking off fast enough and I had to move on. Now podcasting is a major industry and has the likes of Apple and Spotify promoting the medium.
I was right, but not in the way I thought it would play out, and I was way too early.
In 2010 @justinspratt first told me about Bitcoin. I was fascinated and thought that blockchain technology would reshape the trust networks underpinning the global economy. I dived into several ventures developing the technology, including @ZARP_Stablecoin which I am most proud of. But it took almost two decades, and hanging on was tough. Now stablecoin adoption is accelerating with even Mastercard and Visa on board.
I was right, but not in the way I thought it would play out, and I was way too early. But this time I managed to stick around.
