This year we celebrate 10 EthCCs! Next April ➡️ back to Cannes. EthCC is where the industry grew up, bringing together the people & ideas that have shaped where the industry is today and what comes next. We have a lot planned. 📅 April 12–15, 2027 See you there :)
gm frens! It's been a hot minute! We’ve been counting down the days to say: mark your calendars because EthCC[10] is officially locked in: 📅 April 12 - 15, 2027 in Cannes! ☀️ AND THIS YEAR WE CELEBRATE A DECADE!! Ten editions make us the longest-running Ethereum gathering out there. It also means EthCC[10] is going to be a special one and an experience you do not want to miss! 🍾

Encryption is on the table in Brussels, and with it, the question of whether private communication survives as a right or becomes a permission. Yesterday our Executive Director @MarinaMarkezic was there for a meeting on Chat Control, and the start of a more systematic push from our side. This is not a topic that fits in a single post: the process is procedurally complicated, the proposal is complex, and what's happening in the EU is one instance of a global pattern. We'll be sharing more about it soon, and if you work on this, or want to be part of the response, our door is open. csa-scientist-open-letter.or…
Replying to @EuEthInstitute
@EuEthInstitute on the ground today: coordination and strategy meetings on the topic of Chat control. Expect more activities from our side - activation with institutions, sharing updates and systematic communication and aligning with other organisations in the EU and globally. The Chat control discussion is characterised by 1. unpredictability: the process is full of procedural turns and disagreements between institutions, and, to say the least, controversial among regulators and civil society. 2. very unclear communication: the discussion on the topic is nuanced and can hardly be summarised in a one-sentence X-like post. The EU law-making process is complex, and the proposed law is as well. 3. what is happening and being proposed in the EU is just a manifestation of a global trend; global coordination is needed. Reach out if you want to support or be part of it. Besides obvious privacy concerns linked to the proposed law, I will leave you with a letter signed by more than 800 scientists and security researchers from 37 countries, warning that the detection at this scale proposed by the law is not technically feasible and can lead to serious security concerns -> csa-scientist-open-letter.or…

Announcing Ethlabs: a non-profit R&D lab for Ethereum and ETH Our mission is to make Ethereum the settlement layer of the global economy. The internet became global because shared protocols created a common language between networks. Private systems remained useful, but bounded. Finance is approaching a similar moment. As value, assets, and markets become digital, the world needs shared settlement infrastructure. Ethereum is uniquely positioned to become that shared base layer, the neutral foundation on which users, institutions, and agents can transact without intermediation. What we believe: • We believe credible neutrality matters. Ten years of uptime and the lowest counterparty risk. Ground that cannot be pulled away by any one country, institution, company, or person. • We believe ETH matters. The most valuable, programmable store of value. A decade of broad distribution, deep liquidity in onchain markets, and maximally trustless asset on Ethereum. • We believe DeFi matters. Markets, liquidity, credit, exchange, and coordination, open to anyone. • We believe adoption matters. Principles do not change the world until people benefit from them. We sit between two worlds: real usage from the builders at the frontier, and the protocol that has to support it. We work with users, applications, wallets, L2s, infrastructure teams, institutions, ETH holders, core devs and researchers, then turn what they actually need into protocol work, shared standards, infrastructure, and shipped products. Ethlabs is independent but Ethereum is a shared project. We are one node in a much larger network of stewards. This is the multi-node future. We have spent the better part of the past decade contributing to Ethereum core research and development. We are opinionated and transparent. We move with urgency, learn in public, and course-correct when we’re wrong. We are building a lean, talent-dense team for people who want to do the most important work of their careers: [email protected]

ethereum has been online ten years straight with zero pauses and zero maintenance windows. in that time: - facebook went down for 14 hours - aws kinesis froze for 17 - cloudflare dropped 19 datacenters - alt L1s…well, you know. every centralised giant blinks, they rely on on-call humans and scheduled downtime. but ethereum never stops, not through forks, crashes, bubbles, lawsuits, hacks, wars, and every kind of drama the internet can throw at it. and it’s not thanks to a CEO or a hotline. it’s not because someone saved it. it’s because we all did. devs, stakers, researchers, users, millions of us, scattered across the world, choosing to show up, block after block, year after year. while banks fail, clouds go dark and servers get patched, ethereum keeps going. we keep going. ten years online. forever to go.

you should really be a decentralization maximalist because it's the only cool thing about crypto. the only way to not sound lame articulating any of this is as the unstoppable coordination of internet money; anything else and you just sound like the guy who uses ubuntu

Ethereum is a sociotechnical polycentric transglobal fraternity of multivariant stakeholders ignited by a rich array of cultural imaginaries but which are ultimately bound together by the ineliminable core of the Cypherpunk values of decentralisation, permissionlessness, censorship resistance and credible neutrality, themselves philosophically secured by a confident Social Layer, in particular the ideologically-driven parts of the wider community. - @post_polar_

My hot take activist thesis on crypto. Plz reality check this for me 👇 i dont think crypto has failed, quite the opposite. Crypto exists and works and is sufficiently integrated to be resilient. The tech will be activated and massively used in disruptive ways when the actual need for it arises, and that day will come given the trajectory of current politics. We will then see an increase in development and innovation that addresses ux painpoints that will make it safe and easy to use and deliver its permissionless censorship resistant benefits. Bonus point, it will be private too. Many tools will be shipped by established players. Much more will be forked and adapted out of the "compliance" checks used by these regulated players, by hackers who don't care about compliance with US or EU regulations. Crypto will then be split into (i) regtech clearnet type blockchain lead by the US market, and (ii) the rest: china + sanctioned countries and developing markets user base. This separation will fuel creative innovation since the lack of a unified space will make it easier to opt in a sandbox mindset. We will see more tools that focus on separating the regtech side from the rest, while both benefit from each other's opensource, forkable, inovation. We won't be using biometrics to log in to our sandboxed wallets, nor will we talk about that side of the chain on twitter. Currently, we must prepare for that time of acceleration, by resting, learning, identifying allies carefully based on actions over time (cute/acc alignment), building crossdisciplinary and crosscultural communities of hackers, cybernetics and trad philosophers, preppers, artists, technologists, advocates and activists of all domains, building libraries and indexes, and most importantly, putting systems into place that will allow us individually and as groups to do what we need to do when the time comes, safely, and ideally, in a playful way Ty for making it that far <3

GM everyone, We hope you all had a fun, productive and successful week at @EFDevcon! ✨ For those of us on Team EthCC who attended, we loved the experience from A to Z and left Bangkok feeling super inspired! A very special shoutout to the production team and volunteers who made the event a huge success 🫶 As we look ahead, we’ve heard some concerns about some aspects of EthCC[8] and wanted to address them directly. So, let’s get into it… 🧵
