The Vision Zero crash analysis data dashboard does not yet explicitly explain the 2021 change, although it now acknowledges that injury data definitions may change over time. So, be wary future D.C. traffic data analysts.

More people have died in crashes this year in D.C. than in all of 2015, when Bowser set a goal of zero deaths by 2024. The city told us a good sign was that major injuries are going down, but it turns out they just changed what counts as a major injury washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/…
