If you've ever wondered why smart TVs are so cheap, this is why. @log4j rooted his Samsung and found an always-on hot mic, automatic content recognition, geolocation, network mapping, ad targeting and user profiling, shared with Samsung's "400 partners". A lot of it can be blocked in <15 min, wrote a basic guide below. What your TV is doing The main culprit is ACR (automatic content recognition). Your TV screenshots what's on screen, fingerprints it, and sends it home to build your ad profile. Samsung does it every 500ms, LG every 10ms [1]. What is insane: it happens on connected devices too. Plug in your laptop, your console, your work machine, and your TV can fingerprint that via HDMI [1]. He also found that if your Samsung doesn't have a mic, it'll look for one from a connected soundbar or bluetooth device. xitter.cf/log4j/status/211376224โ€ฆ It's on by default, and you likely agreed to it on the setup screen you clicked through in 10 seconds. Step 1: Turn off ACR Samsung: Terms & Privacy โ†’ Viewing Information Services LG: Live Plus Vizio: Viewing Data Roku: "Use info from TV inputs" Sony/Google TV: Samba Interactive TV Menus vary by model, but those are the names to look for. While you're in there, opt out of interest-based ads, reset your advertising ID, decline every optional privacy agreement, turn off voice recognition, and delete apps you never open. Step 2: Give smart devices their own network Put the TV, cameras, speakers and vacuum on your router's guest/IoT network. The logic is simple: these devices rarely get patched. If one gets compromised (getting drastically more frequent with AI), it shouldn't be able to see your other devices or home network. Step 3: Block trackers for the whole house with DNS-level filtering NextDNS (cloud-based) is easy and has a solid free plan. Pi-hole is a little bit more work if you prefer self hosting. For simplicity we'll focus on the former. 1. Sign up at nextdns.io (free tier is plenty) 2. Privacy tab: add a blocklist (OISD is a good bet) and turn on Native Tracking Protection for Samsung, LG, Roku, Amazon (see attached image) 3. Setup tab: copy your endpoint 4. Paste it into your router's DNS settings as DNS-over-HTTPS/TLS (or use the IPs + "Link IP" if your router only does plain DNS) 5. Bonus: block outbound port 53 except to your router. Some devices hardcode their own DNS to get around you Then open the NextDNS logs and watch how often your TV phones home. It's eye-opening. If an app or update breaks, find the domain in the logs and allowlist it. Why they do this TV prices are down 97% since 2000 [2]. Most of that is better manufacturing and brutal competition. But once margins on the hardware hit zero, the cost moved to you. In Q3 2024, Vizio lost $6.7M selling TVs and made $115.8M in gross profit from ads and viewing data [3]. They've said on earnings calls that they keep TV prices low to grow the audience they sell to advertisers. Walmart bought them in 2024. This isn't a conspiracy theory either. Vizio paid $2.2M to the FTC in 2017 for tracking 11 million TVs without consent. Last December, Texas sued Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense and TCL over ACR. Samsung and LG have since agreed to stop collecting that data without explicit consent [4]. TL;DR 1. ACR off 2. Ads + voice off 3. Smart devices on their own network 4. NextDNS filtering on the router Sources: [1] ACR study: arxiv.org/abs/2409.06203 [2] Cost of US consumer goods: aei.org/economics/chart-of-tโ€ฆ [3] Vizio Q3 2024: sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/โ€ฆ [4] Texas v. Mark this very carefully: >>Iran is now threatening to strike Israel's Sorek, Hadera, Ashdod and Ashkelon desalination plants Threats against desalination plants in the Middle East are genocidal in nature when over 80% of potable water comes from that source. 1/
BREAKING: Iran is now threatening to strike Israel's Sorek, Hadera, Ashdod and Ashkelon desalination plants; Haifa oil refineries; the Orot Rabin and Eshkol power plants; Ashdod oil refineries and fuel storage; the Dimona nuclear research center; and critical bridges and highway interchanges if Israel and the U.S. launch another attack on Iran, according to head of Iran's parliamentary National Security Commission. Desalination facilities supply around 80% of Israel's municipal drinking water. Orot Rabin (2,590 MW) and Eshkol (912 MW) anchor the national grid. The Haifa refinery processes roughly 197,000 barrels per day, while Ashdod adds 110,000 bpd. Highway 6, the country's main artery, carries 260,000 vehicles daily. And Dimona sits just 13 kilometers from the city. Tehran is threatening to paralyze Israel's water, power, fuel, and mobilization routes in one blow.

๐Ÿšจ Anyone need more evidence of the revolutionary networks and coordinated strategies @DataRepublican has been exposing? Today, a national Socialist Summit was held in Minneapolis, bringing together radicals and extremist networks to discuss the very strategies revealed in Dataโ€™s findings. One of the speakers was Naomi Li, an organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), one of the most dangerous Marxist-Leninist organizations in America. The PSL receives funding linked to Neville Singhamโ€™s network in China. Over the past year, the PSL has intensified its recruitment efforts on red-state campuses, while also targeting minors nationwide. Naomi Li reveals the fruits of the movements labor, beginning with poll numbers showing rising support for socialism among the youth. For one minute and 39 seconds, youโ€™ll hear revolutionary rhetoric move beyond ideology, with calls to destroy America and replace it with socialist rule. These are the foot soldiers of the revolution Data Republican exposed. @StephenM @CynicalPublius
๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšจ THE ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK / THE DEMOCRACY FILES: A PRIMER ๐Ÿšจ I will be using this thread to track all drops, so bookmark it. I spent most of yesterday backing everything (now 312 gigabytes) up in various sources and getting the materials out to others. I also produced an AI video (below) to explain the whole thing to others are not on ๐• - feel free to distribute. Here's the primer: USAID, the foreign aid agency, had a democracy office. Inside the agency, it was called DRG. Officially, DRG administered "democracy assistance." They'd go inside countries they thought were sliding into authoritarianism and help the opposition there. That assistance included election monitoring, judicary support, independent media, and civil society building. You may have heard the term "color revolution." The model comes from Serbia in 2000, where trained student activists brought down Milosevic with the help of Western governments, after sustained protests. With the help of USAID's democracy office, this model was implemented in many other countries to topple governments: Georgia's "Rose Revolution" in 2003, Ukraine's "Orange Revolution" in 2004, and many more. Then last year, DOGE shut down USAID. But the USAID democracy office didn't stop. They formed a group called the Democracy Renewal Group, the same initials as their office (USAID Democracy, Human Rights, Governance). Their goal: apply their own playbook to the United States itself. This goal became a plan, called Renew American Democracy (RAD). It invoked the "4 B's" framework. Block - use lawfare and protests to make life harder for the Trump administration. Bridge & Belong - control dialogue and win people over. The final and most important B is Build. Build means redesigning the American government itself, and the crisis is the opening. In their own words: "We can take that breakdown moment and leverage it for a big structural reform, you know, refounding moment." - Danielle Reiff, DRG lead. Calls show DRG working alongside DSA on ideas of creating a different government, one that does away with the Constitution itself. DRG does not run the Block operations. They hand it to UDA, the United Democracy Alliance. One organizer calls it a "huge galaxy": lawsuits, street protests, non-cooperation. They list No Kings, Indivisible, MoveOn, 50501, and many other mega-activist NGOs among their members. Another organizer calls UDA Erica Chenoweth's project. Chenoweth is the Harvard professor behind the three-and-half-percent rule of regime change: get that share of a country's populace onto the streets, and historically, the movement wins. The UDA is very "hush-hush." They have no website, no roster, no filings. Then come the red lines: things the Trump administration could do, such as calling the Insurrection Act on protesters, that would mean that the federal government, in their words, "crosses the threshold into illegitimacy." Nobody voted on those lines. There was no public debate. These red lines were developed within secretive working groups, and in a paper addressed to governors and staff. In the words of Reiff/DRG: "So that if there is a red line crossed in terms of a Constitutional crisis, like everyone's already pre-organized. And so Mike Smith actually said, he goes, oh, you guys have the day after tomorrow plan." Cross a line, and the paper's options include states refusing to lend their resources to federal officials, and governors convening what it calls a "Third Continential Congress." Running the UDA's Insurrection Act working group: Rear Admiral Mike Smith (RET) of National Security Leaders of America (NSL4A). NSL4A is also credited with operationalizing UDA, the blocking operations. NSL4A consists of about 1,600 ex-officers, spies, diplomats. They're turning red lines into indicators and running a situation room to monitor them throughout the midterms and beyond. The NSL4A's lawyers told them to stop recording meetings in case of subpoenas. But the rest of the network continued to record. DRG works in conjunction with Renew to Thrive (R2T), which ended up accidentally publishing 400+ calls and thousands of documents. These calls and documents were never meant for our eyes, but it's them, on tape. Thousands of NGOs and billions of dollars are involved in this endeavor. Most of them believe they're saving democracy. The problem is that people who spent their careers deciding when other countries' governments had lost their legitimacy wrote that test for ours, in private, and planned for what comes after. Who decides when your government is legitimate?

Correct. Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be. Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them. Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week. Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact. Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia. SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR. That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell. End of story.
STARLINK WORKS THE SAME WAY ITS ALWAYS WORKED. ITS NOT A WEAPONS SYSTEM, NO MATTER HOW MUCH UKRAINE WANTS IT TO BE.

The seething rage at this post from insulin-resistant left-wing goblins who DoorDash every meal reminds me of how angry all the journos got when John Ekdahl asked if they knew anyone who drove a truck. Maybe now we should ask them if they know anyone whoโ€™s shopped for a used vehicle. Turns out gutting supply by destroying perfectly good vehicles for no good reason jacks up prices for the entire lifespan of those vehicles.
Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesnโ€™t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation. 15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. Itโ€™s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.

It may explain Muslim behavior, but what about politicians?
Ilhan Omar, just like the majority of those shaped by Islam, does not see fraud or the exploitation of โ€œthe otherโ€ as a bad thing. It is not immoral because, as a Muslim, you are superior, and if you are currently not experiencing that superiority over the other, then it becomes morally acceptable to take advantage of whatever means are necessary to correct that wrong. This is a natural feature of being shaped by Islam called โ€œtaaliya.โ€ Muslims do not necessarily know this term or act this way because it was specifically taught to them; it is simply the automatic result of a belief system that makes God complicit in your schemes against the other.

This press conference was in the afternoon following a 45 minute telephone call between Zelenskyy and Marco Rubio while the Ukraine President was traveling by train to Norway. The tone of Zelenskyy in this press conference was substantially different than hours before he talked to Secretary Rubio. Substantively, with all of the recent developments on the Starlink story, it sounds to me like this was the conversation where Rubio essentially said to Zelenskyy we know what you are doing (manipulating Starlink to target inside Russia), and Zelenskyy didn't refute the matter because he couldn't. Hence, the tone change. U.S. and EU politicians, however, are intentionally obfuscating the difference between Starlink and Starshield in order to create a 'Ukraine victim' narrative for use against @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk .
This is a very interesting public presser from Ukraine President Zelenskyy, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and a subdued Finnish President Alexander Stubb.ย  This press event follows President Trump Emissary Steve Witkoff meeting with Zelenskyy, Stoere and Stubb. Steve Witkoff leaves Norway and is going to St Petersburg to meet with Russian Federation Vladimir Putin tomorrow. When asked why Witkoff was not present {10:00}, the host PM Jonas Stoere says, โ€œthis is a press conference among political leaders,โ€ and then quickly moves on.ย  Both Stoere and Stubb are very subdued from their prior public statements that put themselves in opposition to the U.S. Trump administration and now suddenly reverse and say it is important for them to remain engaged with the USA effort and for all EU nations to support discussions with Russia. Following Stubb {at 13:00} Zelenskyy notes that Witkoff traveling to meet with Putin tomorrow is very important, and he is very happy that โ€œearly warning systemsโ€ are working and โ€œitโ€™s great.โ€ย  Zelenskyy repeated referenced the call with Secretary Marco Rubio in outlining a shift in tone that is suddenly very appreciative of the USA support.ย  A very curious shift. As previously noted, there is an early plan for China (Xi), Russia (Putin) and the USA (Trump) to meet on the sidelines of the APEC summit next month in China.ย  Little man Zelenskyy clarifies his prior comments about a trilateral meeting by saying that his comments were directed to a possible U.S, Russia, Ukraine trilateral meeting and not the APEC sideline. At 16:00 Peter Baker (NYT) obviously notes the tone change visible in this presser and asks about what is going on?ย  Baker was taken aback when Zelenskyy, Stubb and Stoere affirm the positive and constructive meeting with Steve Witkoff, and โ€œthere is nothing to gainโ€ by looking at things said yesterday, said Stoere. Finland President Stubb joins with very complimentary statements of Steve Witkoff affirming his belief this meeting has clarified a lot of issues that now lead toward peace.ย  ย โ€œToday was a big successโ€ Stubb emphasized as the press conference concludes. It sounds to me like Secretary Rubio used his linguistic battle skills to pin Zelenskyy on the issue of stirring up trouble and that set up Steve Witkoff for a solid meeting without the EU political drama and narrative constructs of recent weeks. The trio of Zelenskyy, Stoere and Stubb looked considerably smaller in this presser perhaps realizing their miniscule stature in the grand scheme of geopolitical affairs.ย  ย  It will be very interesting to see how the U.S. media react to this shifted tone from today โ€“ particularly as it relates to the New York Times and Peter Bakerโ€™s narrative engineering effort. theconservativetreehouse.comโ€ฆ
