It's going to become incredibly obvious to everyone what we have understood for some time.
Generalized chains do not work.
The only thing that matters will be the apps, and they will roll their own chains, post state to the main blockchain and give nothing in exchange.

I think the stronger critique of PFOF is that it hides large chunks of flow, which can reduce overall market competition.
That’s probably true — but the effect on retail is murkier. Today, zero of that profit delta goes to the user, it’s all MM/HFT capture. PFOF, if done right, shifts profit distribution toward the end user.
Even if competition drops slightly, incentives shift in a way that could still net retail ahead.
PFOF isn’t inherently bad — it’s just a regulatory skill issue.
In theory, it’s vertical specialization: market makers get better execution than naive retail, and that delta can be split so everyone wins.
The fix isn’t banning it, it’s enforcing strict NBBO rules where PFOF fills must be ≥X% better than retail’s own execution. Pair that with low barriers to start a brokerage, and competition kills the greed.
Instead, governments are banning it, settling for worse execution, and call it “protection.”
