Stop solving your own problems. That era is dead. If you solve indiehacker problems your audience is people who can vibe code a replacement. They don't need your thing. Solve problems for other people. Preferably ones with money and pain points.

we will need to rebuild and rewrite much of software to adapt to a new, faster pace. code used to arrive one drop at a time. soon, if not already, code will be written as if it were a continuous stream, like a violent river twisting and turning as it pleases. this is not a new thing: big tech cos have had to deal with this with the enormous scale of their engineering teams. but now ai has brought an incredibly elastic and capable workforce wielded by every engineer. this is your problem now, and the only way to adapt is to evolve your systems so agents - even and especially the ones with little context about the right way of doing things - can thrive. make the easy thing the right thing. your codebase is becoming organic architecture. agent contributions grow around the constraints and guardrails you’ve designed. good software engineering matters even more now! and no, the continuous stream of code is not something you have to watch helplessly. be more ambitious and design systems, frameworks, and languages to control the chaos. the time for mourning coding is long over

the software that people who had spent their entire lives thinking about software produced:
I miss when software felt like it was designed by people who had spent their entire lives thinking about software.

I used to refuse to do Leetcode interviews out of principle. I thought they were stupid, and I'd rather build. In hindsight I left a lot of money on the table by being so principled, but I never struggled to find work. I even took a year and a half off once to travel the world, and when I decided to get back to work it only took me 3 weeks to secure a remote job that allowed me to stay abroad in Asia (this was before COVID when remote was still uncommon) Then in '24 it was clear to me that the market was no longer what it used to be, and was only going to get worse (don't forget at the time everyone was claiming this is all temporary). I swallowed my pride, moved to SF, and grinded my Leetcode like a good little monkey. 500 questions later I secured an offer at Meta. I felt like I'd slid into the garage just before the door shut. Now in '26 coding has been automated, but most companies still do coding interviews. Never before have coding interviews been more removed from reality, and I've personally lost all motivation to prep for them. Many if not most companies will probably inevitably phase them out within the next year or two, but then the question becomes - what will they replace them with? If companies are replacing them with AI-enabled HackerRank/CodeSignal interviews, I wouldn't consider that an improvement based on those interviews I've seen. IMO all interviewing is flawed. At the end of the day, most people just want smart, hardworking people that are fun to work with and aligned with the mission. Of course there needs to be alignment in skillset, but I think AI is the great democratizer that makes that less relevant than ever. If I were running my own company, I'd just find those people and give them work trials. All this monkey hoop jumping does nobody any favors, and is frankly demeaning. It's always been that way and we've all known it, but now it's finally gotten so absurd that the tide is finally shifting.
The coding interview is dead, at least for my team at Anthropic. I've seen enough to know that it no longer provides signal. I removed it from loops this month. I have a spicy, optimistic take - I think there's an opportunity for junior engineers: felixrieseberg.com/hunger-be…

It's funny seeing people vibecode projects and then promote them with the workers dot dev or vercel dot app URL.

And are we absolutely sure Taiwan and South Korea are the examples of rapid economic development without murderous dictatorial government we want to use
Taiwan and South Korea achieved higher economic growth and life expectancy gains without anyone committing mass murder.

the year is 2100. “taiwanese” as a word now refers to the hereditary caste responsible for building the last human-made semiconductors, and omniclaude accords them the highest honors at his table in metaverse heaven, along with all the other last men

New: Proton, the company behind ProtonMail, emailed staff to say it will be 're-interviewing' workers about how they use AI. The implication is, if you're not using AI, or won't learn, you may lose your job. “These re-interviews are consequential,” a leaked email seen by 404 Media reads. 404media.co/proton-to-re-int…

One problem with much of the western left on Taiwan is that they consistently confuse (either intentionally or due to ignorance) two issues: what Taiwan's status should be and how Taiwan/allies should approach that status to best maintain Taiwan's safety given China's polices
the status quo is de facto independence, which according to the poll you quote here taiwanese people overwhelmingly support. if you're going to cherrypick data to support chinese imperialism at least choose something that actually demonstrates your point 😭😭😭😭😭 來這邊丟人現眼

Suzuran Street Stroll and Cooling Festival (鈴蘭通散步納涼會) in Taichung. It's insanely busy down here today, a phantasmagoria of performances, LARPers (the good kind), tasty snacks, experimental coffee, layered history, and everything great about Taiwan's central metropolis.
