Well, Nats fans, I’m sticking around.
Thrilled to announce that I’m joining the @TheAthletic as the Washington Nationals beat reporter.
I’m amped about our plans for the beat, and believe you will be, too.

I'm not exactly sure how many MLB stars have a highlight reel of posters and alley-oops. But I know the list does start with James Wood

All season, was struck by how often Nats fans compared the new regime and roster to the Rays and Brewers, with mixed emotions on the matter.
Here’s a smattering of what I heard from you all this year — and I wonder if any thoughts have changed now:
Several top Nationals business executives are leaving for roles elsewhere, per source, including CFO Ted Towne and VP of Nats Park Events Jonathan Stahl, who had both been with the org for two decades, as well as CRO Chris Zaber, who arrived last year. @TalkNats first on it.

The Nationals will enter the winter with the smallest payroll in MLB by about $25 million, per @EthanHullihen. That is a wide margin.

Also, highly recommend checking out @EthanHullihen’s work. Couldn’t fit all the payroll specifics into the piece, but it’s some great stuff heading into the winter. @jonbecker_ does great work too but I would never tell him this.
Also, this is the first year since Jacob Young became a full-time player that he was not named a Gold Glove finalist. Stiffer competition, as he finished third in NL CF OAA behind PCA and Michael Harris II.
Daylen Lile spent a good chunk of last winter working on his defense, which graded among the lowest marks in MLB.
The result: This year, he is a Gold Glove finalist.
