We now have gangs painting the boats their national colours. They are taking the piss.
We’re being invaded from Calais, Normandy - and now Belgium too.
I will deploy the Royal Navy and stop the boats forever.

The Chancellor is pulling a fast one on the self-employed.
Labour spent the Budget pretending to be on their side. Dig into the facts, and the truth becomes clear. Labour plans to make the self-employed pay tax every month, or every quarter.
Instead of paying on what they earn, however, it’ll be based on what the Government expects them to earn. So if they lose work, or a client doesn’t pay, they could end up with the taxman chasing them for money they never
had.
It’ll be like those estimated bills by incompetent utility companies such as Thames Water, which you have to spend hours on the phone trying to resolve when they get it wrong. Except it’s even worse as Labour is expending their power to grab the money directly from your account, without so much as a court order. What could possibly go wrong?
It feels like the tax system is being set up purely for the convenience of the taxman. It would be nice if they just concentrated on answering the phone on time…

The hidden tax measure in the Budget is huge for people paying tax under self-assessment - sole traders, partners, landlords, retired investors.
For 6th April 2028-29, you currently pay 50% of your income tax late in the tax year in question (in January 2029), 50% just after the year end (in July 2029) with any make-up payment in January 2030.
Under the new proposals you will pay your tax perhaps monthly or quarterly (TBC) from April 2029 onwards. A rough analysis suggests the impact is to draw about 50% of your tax bill forward, a huge cashflow boost to HMRC and a significant funding issue for the self-employed.
The Treasury recognises this, and expects to raise £1.3bn of additional tax in 29/30 as a result of this change.
The cashflow impact of the accelerated charge will send some businesses to the wall.

Chancellor John Healey could have reversed the financial punishment inflicted by his predecessor Rachel Reeves with the family farm tax. He failed to do so. Meanwhile, over 6,000 farming related businesses have closed since the IHT announcement in the 2024 Budget.

Some farmers are openly questioning whether they can afford to produce food next year. That’s not hyperbole, it’s what the NFU has been warning about.
More support is needed immediately.

This budget will cripple people
Replying to @CharlieM_OBE
All I can say is , if Labour are still in power this time next year , the mass redundancy’s will be horrendous. How can any SMB survive when he wants to push the min age up to £13 an hour. 2p on a pint will be 10p so the pub can make some sort of profit, pubs will close

If you’re a veteran wearing a poppy you’re now banned from Wetherspoons. In the security and managers own words it’s ‘COMPANY POLICY’
Tim Martin (spoons owner) will surely go mad about this one. I can’t see him supporting this policy implemented by his pub.

Too many on the Right are naive about the nature of the left.
The Left is being dragged towards Islamo-communism.
They are a threat to our country.
