Seven years ago, Lula was in prison serving an unjust conviction.
Today, he is the re-elected president of Brazil.
In 2018, he said “there is no point in trying to end my ideas, they are already lingering in the air”.
Lula’s ideas don't just linger. They live!
Viva Lula!

Congratulations to @LulaOficial and the people of Brazil on his historic fourth term, defeating Trump-backed Flávio Bolsonaro's far-right divisive campaign. A victory for democracy and proof that the far right is not invincible!

Lessons of Lula victory for India: Street mobilisation played an important role in galvanising moderates and dormants after the first elections.Lulas challenge of Meta’s biased algorithms and late surge in his social media campaign. And the slogan - Brazil is nobody’s backyard.
Lula is an extraordinarily charismatic leader but success of Workers Party (PT) in 21st century Brazil (held power last 18/24 yrs) can also be a model for organization of left-of-centre parties in global South, including India.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva came from behind to win Brazil’s runoff election, halting a right-wing wave sweeping Latin America and defying predictions that the 80-year-old political veteran had finally reached the end of his extraordinary career. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
The BJP practises untouchability against this silver spoon elite leader. You are defending criminals.

Strongly condemn these remarks. Insulting the Hon'ble Prime Minister and his late father is not political courage. It is a shameful and arrogant disregard for public decency and the people’s mandate. It exposes the mind-set of silver-spoon elite that cannot accept a leader who rose through the democratic process and successively earned the mandate of millions.

Smth so fake about US politics. Compared to places where politics is less professionally managed & still about substantive contestations.
Here's Lula's speech before turning himself in. Can see what Rousseau described as politically-educated passions, not de-politicized vibes.
Jamia Millia Islamia announces resumption of student union elections after two decades. In an order issued on Monday, the university administration said the elections would be held within 15 days of the approval of the students’ union constitution.
“The Jamia Millia Islamia Students’ Union Election will be held after 15 days, from the date of approval of the constitution of the Students’ Union of Jamia Millia Islamia,” the order stated.
The announcement comes after days of protests by students, who have been demanding the restoration of the elected students’ union, which was dissolved by the university administration in 2006.

Lula was only 33 when he led the strike alongside the metalworkers’ union that challenged Brazil’s military dictatorship. He secured wage increases and was imprisoned.
His rival, the far-right Flávio Bolsonaro, on the other hand, has had only one occupation since the age of 21: spending his wealthy family’s money and engaging in far-right thuggery.
