Parents send us the best kids they have -- the ones they love the most. When we’re mindful of that… we can be a little more patient, a little more tender, and a little more compassionate.

I'm using squares this year!
Replying to @alicekeeler
Make the venn diagram shape squares 🔲🔲, not circles. Much easier for students to type into and a better use of space.

Instead of “Do you you have any questions?”
Try———>”What questions do you have?”
Game changer.

At the heart of UDL is a belief that a classroom designed for marginalized Ss will benefit ALL Ss.
e.g. Originally designed for wheelchair users, a ramp helps ALL users, like small children, the elderly, or parents w/ strollers.
We need a bigger push for UDL in ALL classrooms!

📚I looked up Merriam Webster's definition of SCAFFOLD and it directly translates to INSTRUCTIONAL SCAFFOLD.
🪜 What scaffolding tools are you using to help your workers (students) stand or sit while working towards a "height above" from where they are?

It can be hard to tell what's going on behind a child's behavior, but it’s so important that we find the “why” so we can meet the child’s needs. One of the most important lessons I learned from @responsiveclass is that behavior is communication.

I think this could be used for 2nd graders as well. You never know what they can do if you don’t show them.

Who else is going to try this today? Thanks @justintarte
Have a student you're struggling with?
Try the 'two-by-ten' strategy:
For two minutes each day, 10 days in a row, have a personal conversation with the #student about anything the student is interested in.
Wonderfully simple and wildly effective.

Loving this new feature in @Seesaw! Just posted goal celebration pics w/ an explanation by recording myself vs trying to explain it in writing = AWESOME!! Next step, teaching my S's to do it in our fluency station. 🏆
12R did a wonderful job using the new voice recording feature in the Seesaw app today. They are now able to add their voices to objects on the page. @Seesaw

Merely adding points to an activity doesn’t make it gamified. It makes it gimmicky.
True gamification is about tapping into autonomy & meaningful choice. Understanding positive psychology to create a flow state. Intrinsic motivation & endowed progress.
User-centered design.
