After running a NHL team in Florida, @thatcamlawrence & I led a deep tech venture fund in Brooklyn as CEO & GC where we did a lot of work optimizing cutting edge AI models.
Talked here w @ethan_sears about how some of that thinking could help NHL teams leverage AI tools 🏒💻
All year, I kept reading stories about AI and wondering how it would impact hockey. So I asked some people about it who are much smarter than me.

What happens if Connor Hellebuyck wants to return to Winnipeg?
A: Things get real complicated.

The CBA section on suspensions referenced in Friedman’s Hellebuyck article was 1st posted about by @stevewerier a few days ago. Here’s what he wrote ⤵️
If you go to @PuckPedia you’ll see the Leafs have $3.2M in cap space
But they can’t add anyone signed beyond this year at an AAV above $1M
Why?
Because TO’s 2027-28 cap commitments are so high they’ll violate the “tagged” payroll limit under the CBA unless they move $ out 💸📝
If Connor Hellebuyck returns to Winnipeg, the Jets should invoke Article 15.13(c)(ii) & (v) of the NHL CBA to do the following:
1. Delay paying him until THEY deem him fit and ready to play
and then
2. Impose a disciplinary suspension of reasonable length b/c he skipped camp

Jalen: "When Josh honestly missed the layup. I'm not even trying to be funny. Usually I joke about that. Josh is on the floor kind of like holding his face and like me KAT and Jose just ran up to him and said get up, next play. I think that play really embodies this team"

Carmelo Anthony was yelling out instructions and observations to the Knicks players during game 4 and told them the offensive rebound would be there right before OG Anunoby game winner, per @ramonashelburne
"Coming out of that timeout, I made eye contact with them and was yelling 'The offensive rebound is there! Somebody go!'
"I didn't know who was going to go. But I just kept yelling, somebody go!"

Rod Brind'Amour told me this on K’Andre Miller this AM:
“At the start of the year, we told him 'pretend we don't know anything about you. What kind of player do YOU want us to THINK you are?’
And I thought from day 1 of training camp, he was our best player.
He wants to take his game to the next level and learn as much as he can. He's ALWAYS asking questions and as a coach, what more could you want?”
Everything the #Canes had hoped he would be when they went out and got him last July 1.
An absolute horse.

A completely different kind of pressure for Matt and the world on the line for Alex.
