Hey @TeiaCommunity and Tezos folks - we've been discussing the prospects of doing an update to TEIA's minting contract to v2. The basic idea was to update the contract to include a small minting fee (a very low fee set by the community itself) so that TEIA has a steady source of revenue coming in to pay for operational and legal expenses more reliably. This will also "fix" the awkward relationship TEIA has with @objktcom where some artists feel its unfair that minting on TEIA and swapping on objkt basically leaves TEIA out to dry. This way, both sides get something out of the process and it'll be a win-win for both. To make it worth artists' time, however, we are thinking of adding additional features to the new contract as well. Some include: 1) make the metadata editable post-mint, until the artist puts it into a listing, in which it gets "locked in". This'll help with typos and last minute changes and such but also protect collector's interests of needing a level of permanence in what they're buying. 2) introduce collab contract functionality directly into minting, where you can just add collaborators on there to simplify the collab contract we have now. TEIA does have a contract atm but we are aware that it's not the most user-friendly thing so we wanted to address that, too. 3) additional metadata slots to include things like international ID codes (ISRC, Object ID) to create a direct link between NFTs and physical or already registered works - to encourage more professional usage. 4) For those who prefer the current HEN contract, that option will still be there. The new contract will be backwards compatible and we will not be deprecating anything in any way, in case people might be worried. If anyone has any additional suggestions please let us know - we'll be running it through the polling system before doing anything so don't worry - you'll be seeing it coming a mile away. No drama, smooth transitions - that's what were known for here on Tezos and we're planning on keeping it that way. 😉
