Met the youth at @sunfoundationIn Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Amritsar who have completed their Commis Chef course as part of their journey from addiction to recovery.
After battling drug addiction for 15–20 years, they are now beginning a new chapter. I assured them my support in setting up their own food carts so they can earn a livelihood with dignity. Recovery must lead to self-reliance.

Visited @sunfoundationIn Swami Vivekanand Drug Rehabilitation Centre run by Sun Foundation in Amritsar today and interacted with young people on their journey of recovery and skill development.
I have assured the recovering youth that we will facilitate their job placements & Start ups.
Rehabilitation must lead to a livelihood — skills, employment, dignity and economic independence are essential for a lasting return to mainstream life.
I was also deeply concerned to learn of alleged drug sales in the vicinity of the rehabilitation centre. This allegation must be verified immediately, and if found true, strict action should follow. A rehabilitation centre must be a safe space for recovery, not a place where vulnerable youth remain exposed to drugs.

At Sun Foundation, we believe the fight against drugs must go beyond slogans. We are empowering inmates through skills, rehabilitation and livelihoods, restoring dignity and hope. Punjab’s youth deserve opportunity, not addiction.
45% of inmates in Punjab’s jails are registered for drug-dependence treatment, with 15,678 of 35,449 prisoners enrolled in OOAT clinics. A majority are young people aged 18–45.
These shocking figures raise a serious question: what is the Punjab Government’s ground-level impact in its much-publicised “Yudh Nashiyan Virudh” campaign?
The drug crisis cannot be fought through slogans alone. We need sustained prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and, most importantly, dignified livelihood opportunities.
Our NGO @sunfoundationIn is working on this very approach by providing skill education and livelihood-oriented training to inmates, helping them rebuild their lives and become economically independent.
Punjab’s youth need a future—not addiction, incarceration and despair. The government must move beyond announcements and demonstrate measurable results on the ground.
