Your seniors can tell you what it actually felt like to be in your program. I just finished a 2-page Senior Season Review for head coaches. It asks seniors to evaluate communication, expectations, trust, practice preparation and player development - and share what the program should keep or get rid of. Page 1 of 2.

Pack the Hook/Seam LB Drill Linebacker Pass Game Fundamentals - This is the lift and sift portion of the LB pass drop - Lock out the arm nearer to the receiver - Aim for the pec of the receiver - When you use the inside arm, you lose square - Keep shoulders and hips square - Do not chase re-routes - If the receiver is in the LB's cylinder, then re-route J.J. I completely forgot I had this saved, and I apologize because I cannot remember where I originally got it from. I didn’t create this, but I thought it was awesome and worth sharing! From a defensive line coaching perspective, this is an excellent breakdown of pass rush lanes, rush integrity, timing and understanding when to execute your moves One of the biggest things I emphasize with defensive linemen is understanding that rushing the passer isn’t simply about getting upfield as quickly as possible. There has to be a plan behind your rush, and your approach has to complement what the other defenders are doing The closing zone, move zone, counter opportunities and dead zone are great teaching points for helping players understand rush progression ✅ Closing Zone: Work to close the distance on the blocker while maintaining leverage, balance and control. ✅ Move Zone: Understand when to execute your primary rush move based on the blocker’s positioning, leverage and set. ✅ Counter: Recognize when your initial move has been stopped and transition to a counter without losing rush-lane discipline. ✅ Dead Zone: Understand when you’ve rushed too far beyond the quarterback’s depth, taking yourself out of position and potentially creating an escape lane. The biggest takeaway for me is that effective pass rushing requires individual execution within a coordinated defensive front Edge rushers and interior defensive linemen have different landmarks, responsibilities and rush angles, but they must work together to compress the pocket, limit escape opportunities and affect the quarterback You can have four talented pass rushers, but if they aren’t disciplined with their rush lanes and understand pocket depth, you can create opportunities for the quarterback to escape Really good material for defensive line coaches at any level. A simple visual that creates some valuable teaching opportunities!

Everybody wants to talk X’s and O’s, but how many coaches are actually studying the details? The difference between watching film and SCOUTING film is knowing what you’re looking for. Coaches, what’s the biggest tendency you look for on film?

🚨🚨MUST WATCH🚨🚨 #Titans head coach Robert Saleh gave one of the most INCREDIBLE explanations of defensive football youever hear during a press conference. For nearly 7 minutes, Saleh broke down his defensive philosophy, why his system is so difficult to master, and how it produces ELITE defenses. He discussed learning from Pete Carroll, Vic Fangio, and Monte Kiffin, while explaining why understanding an offense is more important than simply knowing your assignment. Robert Saleh is one of the BRIGHTEST defensive minds in football. This is a MASTERCLASS in coaching. 🤯🤯🤯
