I learned today that the American Academy of Diplomacy elected me to join their ranks. I am honored by the confidence of the very people who have inspired me over the past three decades. Many thanks to them for this honor, but even more for that inspiration.

The United States welcomes this latest milestone in our commercial partnership with Guinea. We commend Wabtec and CTG for a partnership that brings American innovation to one of Africa's most important infrastructure projects, supporting American manufacturing jobs and building the skills of Guinea's workforce. The United States remains committed to commercial partnerships that deliver high-quality results and advance prosperity for both our nations.

We export ~20% of the 99.7%-pure copper anodes we produce at our Kamoa-Kakula copper smelter along the Lobito Railway Corridor to the Atlantic port of Lobito in Angola. We are proud supporters of the Lobito Corridor and the investment made by @trafigura and @DFCgov to improve the capacity of the rail line, which is fast becoming a major rail artery for copper and critical minerals from the DRC Copperbelt to the global market. The Lobito Corridor is the shortest and most direct export and import route from the Copperbelt to the seaborne international market. Cheaper logistics increases the amount of economically recoverable critical minerals mined in the Copperbelt, lowering cut-off grades. @IvanhoeMines_ @kamoa_copper_sa bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

My first diplomatic assignment was Denmark. Rebild was a touchstone of our bilateral relationship.
U.S. Ambassador Excluded from Traditional Danish Celebration For the first time, the U.S. ambassador is not welcome at the traditional Rebild Festival, where the ties of friendship between the United States and Denmark are celebrated today. The reason is that the Municipality of Aalborg was only willing to maintain its financial support of 400,000 Danish kroner on the condition that no one appointed by President Donald Trump be invited. Aalborg’s mayor, Lasse Frimand Jensen, describes the situation as “a dilemma.” On the one hand, he says, it is important to preserve “good relations across the Atlantic.” “But on the other hand, we also want to speak out against the way Donald Trump and his administration have acted toward Denmark,” he told TV 2. The Rebild Festival is the world’s largest celebration of the United States’ Independence Day held outside the United States. —TV2

So Almiron got tagged for the first ever World Cup VAR-reversed yellow for a clear dive and then got the first ever straight red for talking into his hand less than a week later. Do not associate with this man right now, he’s about to be hit in the face with a meteor.

thrilled with the result, but this was an opportunity to get McKenzie, Weah, and Wright significant minutes. I hope Paraguay gives us a little help tonight so we can get our bench players on the pitch in game three. #USMNT

#usmnt ok, third goal: upon dozens of viewings, I believe the vast majority of strikers would have flopped and tried for the penalty. Balogun fits this team so well because he refused to quit and scored in play.
