#ccr25 Steve Webb asks the panel "what is the optimal dose of protein in ICU nutrition?"
@MelbourneICU ... the answer is uncertain!
@Zudin_P ... Highlights that nutritional uptake is modified by exercise / activity.
So do we need to do a nutrition-exercise trial??

Late augmented protein should be trialled and not implemented If augmented early is more likely harmful than beneficial, then we should acknowledge that harm from late is possible as well.

'In early critical illness, intravascular volume depletion secondary to capillary leak is common & requires aggressive fluid resuscitation to improve cardiac output & tissue perfusion'
Why are we still propagating these myths? 🧵
