Listen to what he said: “We still have total power in Texas, and we must act like it by using the remaining ten weeks to restore separation of powers and limit the emergency powers that Governor-Elect Hinojosa is set to inherit, which would allow her to destroy liberty in Texas by executive fiat." So Texas Republicans knew they eroded separation of powers, overstepped the limits to emergency powers to destroy liberty for most Texans… I hope Texas remembers this for future elections.
🚨 BREAKING: Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison IMMEDIATELY calls on Gov. Greg Abbott to call a Special Session while they still have control to strip the governor's emergency powers before Gina Hinojosa (D) assumes office "Without action, Governor Hinojosa will inherit the powers of a DICTATOR." - Ban the governor from suspending or changing state laws - End emergency orders after 30 days unless the Legislature ratifies them - Stop the governor from reissuing orders that expired or that lawmakers rejected - Require emergency orders to be narrowly tailored - Fast-track court challenges to emergency orders "We still have total power in Texas, and we must act like it by using the remaining ten weeks to restore separation of powers and limit the emergency powers that Governor-Elect Hinojosa is set to inherit, which would allow her to destroy liberty in Texas by executive fiat." He says he supports doing this for ANY governor, Republican or Democrat, but this makes it particularly pressing. Honestly — Texas got wiped out. The clock is ticking!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Rep. Brian Harrison filed HB911 in 2022 to restrict these same emergency powers for any governor, stating they undermine separation of powers and should be opposed irrespective of party. Abbott has repeatedly issued/renewed disaster declarations exercising them. texasscorecard.com/state/state-re… capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/His… statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/GV/htm/GV… gov.texas.gov/news/post/gove… chron.com/news/article/t…

And this is exactly what Talarico meant by forcing everyone on their toes! Get back to putting the American people first. There should be some major changes
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

I am so happy that Bernie Sanders is with us today to be able to see the fruits of his labor. He cultivated a whole generation of young leaders through the movement he spawned who are now winning seats everywhere. And he gets to live to witness it. Thank you, Bernie.

Recession indicator.
AMEX WILL FORCE PAY OVER TIME ON EVERY CHARGE CARD - NO OPT OUT American Express is emailing charge cardholders that starting 2/1/27, Pay Over Time will be permanently turned on. You won't be able to turn it off. Charge cards, like the Platinum, Gold, and Green, used to require paying your balance in full every month. Now Amex will let you carry a balance on some or all of your purchases, and charge interest on it. What stays the same - Still no preset spending limit on purchases - Pay Over Time has its own dollar limit - Anything above that limit is still due in full What you should do now - Set autopay to the FULL statement balance, not the minimum - Double check autopay before February - Watch your statements for any interest charges Thoughts?

i fully understand why David prayed for God to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. sometimes, the greatest battle is not with the people around us but with what is happening inside us. you can have a good heart and still need God to work on your attitude, your thoughts, your reactions and the things you struggle to control.

🚨 During a campaign event in Swanton, Ohio, Donald Trump Jr. warned the crowd that Democrats “want to make Ohio a state.” For context, Ohio joined the Union as the 17th U.S. state on March 1, 1803. 🤦‍♂️

I be getting random emails letting me know my visas were approved 🤣
Do flight attendants have to obtain visas for every country where they spend the night, or do airlines have special arrangements that allow them to stay without one?
