The benchmark diesel price hit yet another all-time high this week — $6.529 per gallon — while J.P. Morgan's commodity analysts openly admitted they no longer have a baseline view on where energy markets are headed. But futures markets may be sending an early signal of relief.

Bot Auto wholeheartedly supports and applauds the @FMCSA and Administrator Barrs for granting a 5-year exemption for cab-mounted warning beacons. This regulatory move allows us to keep operating safely, serve our customers, and innovate for the next generation of trucking.
Federal regulators have given autonomous truck operators a five-year exemption allowing cab-mounted warning beacons in place of reflective triangles — replacing a series of short-term waivers that had kept the industry in a state of uncertainty. The rule change reflects a basic reality of driverless trucking: there is no one to step out and place triangles on the road.

Two weeks ago, our team participated in a simulated traffic stop with a K9 unit of the Texas Department of Public Safety. This mission-critical training was designed to teach our autonomy system how to act when pulled over for secondary screening at a routine CMV checkpoint, but also to teach Texas State Troopers how to better interact around an autonomous truck.
Like @teeter_bart says, safe operations as an autonomous company come from "constant communication and constant education, so no one is caught unprepared."
Inspections are a normal part of operating as a motor carrier, but things get complicated when 4-legged officers hit the scene.
This training is just one piece of our promise to put safety first by nurturing our relationship with first responders, and we will never stop working to be the safest trucking company on the road.

Diesel prices have reached record levels in the last month and mall carriers across the board are saying “what cost is too much for us to keep hauling?”
Bot Auto is a small carrier, but we also have a superpower in our trucks that allows for strategic navigation of diesel prices: autonomy-boosted fuel efficiency.
Our VP of Commercial Opperations David Stemm wrote about how our team thinks about making it in this diesel market here:

"We’re entering the next phase of autonomous trucking: moving beyond development and into real commercial freight operations. At Bot Auto, we’re now moving 350 loads per month across Texas, putting our technology to work every day.
Every load matters. Every mile gives us another opportunity to validate the technology, improve operations, strengthen our network, and prove the economics of autonomous trucking in real-world conditions.
And this is only the beginning.
We’re building toward the Capacity Grid Powered by Bot — a scalable autonomous network designed to grow lane by lane, market by market, and ultimately support our goal of 1 billion autonomous miles annually by 2031.
Physical AI is moving from the lab to the real world.
350 loads a month today. A much bigger network ahead." - Bot Auto President & COO Brett Suma

Very proud of the commercial progress at @BotAutoAV ! 350 loads per month is very impressive and especially with our intentionally small fleet. Every load, every mile, every customer is a building block for something great.

When a first responder approaches a driverless truck on the side of a Texas highway, someone has to answer. Bot Auto says that someone will always be based in the United States. The Houston autonomous trucking company has formally committed to U.S.-only remote assistance operators — the people who communicate with law enforcement and can initiate a vehicle shutdown during an incident — as congressional and regulatory scrutiny of offshore AV staffing continues to grow.

Having our @BotAutoAV remote assistants solely employed in the United States is a no brainer. First responders during incidents need quick and reliable communication, and that’s what we’re committed to. 🇺🇸 🤖
Working hand-in-hand with the first responder community is vital for our autonomous trucking technology to revolutionize transportation.
To support the first responder community during this transformation, we're making a commitment to employ only US-based remote assistance for our autonomous fleet. The Texas Department of Public Safety is on board.
“The ability to clearly and reliably communicate with a remote assistant during an emergency situation is critical to first responders," said Major Omar Villarreal, Texas Department of Public Safety. "Miscommunication or poor connections can potentially cost valuable time in addressing emergency conditions. Autonomous vehicle operators committing to US- based remote assistants convey that they are committed to their responsibility in engaging first responders by making effective communications a priority."

“What makes Bot Auto different from other autonomy providers?” is a question asked constantly.
Jason Lau, our director of business development, explains his thoughts.
He has the perspective of working with another AV provider and genuinely understands why Transportation-as-a-Service is the right vertical for Bot. The partners and customers don’t want to hedge on a 5 year play for an AV fleet.
They want real, flexible, autonomous capacity on a network ready to scale NOW.

This July, Bot Auto celebrated three years of transforming the landscape of trucking. Based in Houston, Bot Auto is proud to call Texas home thanks to the booming economy, wide range of freight, and pro-autonomy regulators.
Vice President of Partnerships @RobertBrownAV sat down to talk about the value of being in the Lone Star State, why it was enough to move him out of sunny San Diego, and how the Texas trucking industry is responding to the expansion of autonomous vehicles on the roads.
We're happy to celebrate three years and ready for what comes next!

Our Bot Auto team knows what it takes to create safe and reliable self driving technology. And our commitment to the best human team behind the scenes is what sets us apart on our mission to improve the world of transportation.
Our founder and CEO Xiaodi Hou wrote about the importance of this human team in his latest article for Fast Company. Read about why AI has a place behind the wheel (and in the office), but the people continue to be the driving force behind all we do.
The truck can drive itself, but the company shouldn't have to.
