I was avoiding weighing in on this, but does anyone at OpenAI dispute that:
(1) They heard rumors of a Millennium Prize breakthrough (the rumors I heard were that it was about Naiver-Stokes specifically, from Anthropic, and under external review. Who knows if they knew this, the blog posts suggests they didn't, but even so...)
(2) They then spent millions of dollars in a week-long sprint to... scoop the (unknown) authors who made the breakthrough? Or at least push hard in that direction knowing there was a chance they would do so?
(3) They then learned that Levant/Tristan were the authors in question and intended to offer them co-authorship? For a result that was presumably already achieved? Then they learned Levant/Tristan only had a resolution of the forced Euler problem (i.e. a key step on the way to a Navier-Stokes solution, but not the full milestone) so they published alone?
If all the above is true, then sure. OpenAI independently found a solution to the Naiver-Stokes equation. But they seemingly did it for maximally icky reasons.
I don't know the professional norms in math but something about this reeks of... silicon valley mindset/zero-sum thinking. Why not spend the millions of dollars pursuing a totally new problem, rather than directly competing with progress on a problem that you know is about to be announced, even if you don't know the exact shape or origin of the announcement? Even if you want to explore problems in the region of "millennium prize," why not give it two weeks to see what the pending result is so you can build off of it, not scoop someone, not waste millions on potentially duplicative efforts, etc. Seems like a waste, unless the goal is to beat someone else to the announcement, i.e. "I don't want to live in a world where someone else solves millennium prize problems better than we do."
Rare to see a team actually qualified to rebuild search
@keenableAi’s founder built 3 search engines including the one that beat Google in Russia 🤯 The team has 10+ year in search
In under a year of stealth: they’ve created their own crawler, their own index, and their own query language for the web
Free through September if you want to try it on your own agents!
Today we are announcing @KeenableAI, an AI-native index of the best human knowledge we have, starting with the open web.
AI seems to know just about everything until you ask it about something you know deeply. The answer isn’t wrong, but it's just very average.
We started Keenable to fix this problem: every model and every agent should be able to query, reason over, and continuously learn from the living web.
Backed by a $26M Seed from @Accel and @conviction. Built by the team that took on Google at Yandex Search, with researchers and engineers from Amazon AGI, X, and Perplexity.
The Web Search API and Web Query Language for AI are live now. Together they make the web queryable at AI scale. Both are free until end of September.
Seven days of benchmarks, stories, and launches ahead.
Let your agents search.

Just a month ago, I introduced a free tool for finding and downloading these icons. Despite zero promotions or SEO, it’s already attracting hundreds of users.
Time to roll up my sleeves and tackle those SEO tweaks.

Hmm... observing some odd behavior with the Twitter algorithm. A post that was expected to get a few thousand impressions only received a few hundred.
Could I be the only one experiencing this?

Soon I'll share this epic tale. TLDR:
In summer 2021, I seized the role of Design Director at YaSearch, a BigTech giant in Europe with 60M DAU.
Given ambitious OKRs, we set out to bring significant improvements to the platform's look and feel. Tackling major design overhauls in established BigTech firms is no walk in the park (remember the G Auth redesign?).
Teaming up with my tech bro @sbmaxx, we crafted a daring plan to swiftly revamp the entire platform. Despite its difficulty, we, along with our team, successfully accomplished this task with remarkable speed.
Our feats include:
- Introducing a sleek dark theme in just 3 months!
- Brand new header with a lot of space
- Fresh lowercase tabs
- Stylish snippet blocks
- Clean and polished typography
- Custom fonts
- Seamlessly invisible transitions with AJAX
...
I will write a short story about each of these updates soon.

In 2021, I assumed the role of Design Director at a tech giant with 60M DAU and successfully redesigned the entire platform in 8 months.🖤
Proud of it:

At @LoviSkincare we shipped three major releases last week. Let me introduce the first one: Assistant Cosmetic Embed.
Upon analyzing the logs, we discovered that the top request to the Assistant is for cosmetics recommendations.
In response, we launched a special embed in the chat screen with Cosmetics carousels to assist users in finding their perfect match and saving it to their collections.
