Hello Twitter! I am a grad student at UBC cycling around Vancouver at night, eavesdropping on bats. Since bats aren’t the only thing I see (and often don’t show up well on a phone photo taken at night) I’ll be posting a picture a night of what was most interesting!

The youth movement has been calling for system change. With systems science, maybe we can help it evolve to the next step: pushing strategically for all components of a sustainable future. cosphere.net/single-post/wha… 8/

These leverage points are more complex than they seem. It’s time to make the science broadly accessible. #scicomm At @CoSphere, we explain each, and explore how we might foster needed change. cosphere.net/news-updates/ca… 5/

May 7th. Sunset over Arbutus Ridge.
May 5th. Skyline of the city. You can see the light pollution in the sky and on the mountains behind. Does it affect when and where bats forage #bats #lightpollution #conservation

May 4th. Learning from the bats— learning to listen instead of look

May 3rd. The city just before and just after sunset on a clear night.

May 2nd. BLOCKED! Stopped in my tracks by a train. Makes me wonder how #urbanwildlife maneuvers around the city and how human vehicles impede their movement

May 1st. A View of Vancouver from CRAB Park. Maybe quite pretty from a human perspective but how does light pollution affect #urbanwildlife?

Often around waterways, because that is where mosquitos emerge from. They eat those, and I'm grateful; as mosquitos are voracious disease spreaders.

Even if you’re not new to Vancouver like me, I hope these photos, from a different perspective will offer you a new side of Vancouver!
