That means you’re willing to potentially lose £50 (5% of £1,000). If the trade goes well and you make a profit, let’s say you make a 10% profit. Now, your account balance is £1,100. Applying the same 5% risk, you would be willing to risk £55 (5% of £1,100) on your next trade. By using percentages, you can adjust your risk level based on the size of your account, WITHOUT being solely focused on the dollar amount.
