you need to stop talking about new mexico and new america, and start talking about new housing developments that will make housing affordable
Both rail and freeway corridors between California’s two largest cities are shut down today because of impacts from extreme weather events.
They also don’t pay for their use of our roads (through the gas tax). Feels like some form of a RUC for robotaxis is a no brainer.

RIP Legends
Chat is this healthy?? The City of El Cajon (suburb of SD, pop: ~100k) hasn’t permitted a single unit of multifamily housing in the past 8 years.
Had a feeling he was going to do this

Using this new law, one home becomes five
We're proud of these modestly sized, new construction units. The first of many.

As the quote goes! "Populists don’t just feed on socioeconomic discontent. They feed on ineffective government."
RW populists took the living examples of some of the failures within blue state governance to sell a perfect world, instead we are left with a growing autocracy.
It is why we cannot take govt inefficiencies as just givens that happen, but work to ensure we have a functioning state that can deliver on our promises.
Governing well matters, the other side got lazy, we can't do the same.
🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right
This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine.
“In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.”
“Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.”
Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right.
“If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’”
The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.

Waiting for someone to write this article about Presidio Hills in San Diego 🫣
The city loses $4.9 million a year subsidizing six sprawling golf courses used by a shrinking number of players. In a housing-starved city, that’s a tough sell.

As Oceanside and Carlsbad have developed their downtowns, the vocal minority have repeatedly told me both are ruined.
Tonight the silent majority suggested otherwise. People everywhere. Bikes, kids, strollers, marriage proposal, the works. Buzzing. Alive.
She was literally an elected official during the time when California completely stopped building for-sale housing and she’s going to try to lecture us about how rental units are actually the problem?
Not falling for it…
