.@Billy captured the essence of being a teenager in the '90s in America
before the internet
before the iPhone
before AI
the biggest problem we had was finding something to do Friday night
Released in 1996 as the second single from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, “1979” became the Smashing Pumpkins' biggest American hit, reaching No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on both the Modern Rock Tracks and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. The album was eventually certified 10× Platinum in the United States. “1979” was almost left off the album: producer Flood gave Corgan a final deadline to complete the unfinished song or remove it from the record. Corgan went home, finished the lyrics that night, and returned the next day with a new demo that convinced Flood to keep it.
Billy Corgan wrote the track as a nostalgic reflection on adolescence and the transition into adulthood. Although the title refers specifically to the year Corgan was 12, the song is less a literal autobiography than an idealised reflection on what it felt like to be young.
I vote we send her to Ghana too.
A Texas father who had lived in the U.S. for 25 years with no criminal record was finishing his night shift as an Uber driver when immigration agents detained him.
Without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge, he was put on a plane and sent first to Ghana, a country where he had no ties. He was then sent to his home country, despite a determination by a U.S. immigration court judge that he could not be deported there due to likely persecution. cbsn.ws/3Ude66r

It is completely insulting that Robert Reich and Democrats decry Elon Musk funding political campaigns when George Soros has pursued much more insidious tactics like buying hundreds of DAs all across America.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
The real filter is do you hate the country and want to actively work to destroy it
If the answer is no, you are subject to being labeled and cancelled
.@sama or @gdb should personally own this
outright banning access to frontier intelligence is akin to debanking or worse and should be reserved for only the most extreme circumstances
Intelligence is a Natural Right.
imagine a fully integrated AI future where being banned means you are now economically useless. everybody around you is a superhuman living in the future but you violated TOS and now are cut off.
your smart glasses that showed you a beautiful utopia? the color has left them. you are forced to live in a bleak gray world. you are forced to look your wife in her actual face and she is not happy with you.
you are digging holes with a spoon while everybody else is building skyscrapers with an army of bots.
this is the real doomer catastrophe
open source is the only way to protect your freedom, your economic viability & your ability to tell these companies to fuck right off.
a few months ago openAI and anthropic were desperately begging the admin to make it legal for them to collaborate. if they got their way, one TOS violation on either platform would send you directly to the sunken place.
AWS got complacent
They had the lead over Azure and GCP for a decade but now they're losing mindshare to Cloudflare and Vercel on hosting and Elon has lapped them on GPU compute

When a corporation can unilaterally cut you off from accessing the most valuable resources in the world, you are not free.
You are a peasant. You are a serf.
This is technofeudalism. We need mandatory access to AI as a right enforced by citizenship.
We need sovereign AI. We need local and open AI.
Actually open AI. Not 'OpenAI'.
US gov should never use Anthropic AI models

It should be insulting to every American that the mayor of our largest city is a guy who became a citizen less than a decade ago and now spends his time coaching illegal aliens in a foreign language on how they can avoid being lawfully deported.
