What would 100 days of news look like without headlines?
I’m finding out.
Every day, I choose one real story and turn it into a watercolor. The small figure in red appears in every piece, watching.
Some are hopeful. Some are hard to look at.
GPT-6 Astra is more capable. OpenAI also says its reasoning is harder to monitor.
I used AI to picture that tension: a working brain with a room we cannot see into.
DAY 26/100: THE DARK ROOM
Would you trust it with more responsibility?
Real-world results are in. There is a new #1 on Code Arena - GPT-6 Astra (Max)!
It also reshapes the Pareto frontier as the best-performing model at $40/Mtoken, which matches the latest Claude model pricing.
GPT-6 Astra by @OpenAI takes the top spot in Code Arena: WebDev with a score of 1797 pts. This opens up a solid +35pt lead over #2 Claude Fable 5.1 (Max) at 1762 pts and #3 Claude Opus 5 (Max) at 1688 pts.
This is a significant improvement from GPT-5.6 Sol (xHigh) at +180 pts, ranked at #13.
Category level votes still incoming, but already we see it at #1 in: Data & Analytics, Consumer Product, Content Creation Tools and #2 in Gaming and Simulations.

I painted it empty because someone will wear it again.

NASA’s Roman Space Telescope left Earth this morning.
DAY 21/100: BEHIND THE DARK
I painted darkness as a curtain because Roman will spend five years looking behind it.
What would you ask it to find?
NASA launched Roman from Kennedy Space Center at 7:26 a.m. EDT on Aug. 30. It separated from its rocket 31 minutes later and is heading to L2, about 1 million miles from Earth. Its field of view is at least 100 times larger than Hubble’s.

DAY 20/100: WHO HOLDS THE TAP
The oil has waited beneath Venezuela for millions of years.
Yesterday, a deal was announced over 65 billion barrels of it.
The ground did not move.
The tap may now point somewhere else.
On Aug. 28, Trump said the U.S. had secured majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil through a private partnership. Venezuela acknowledged an agreement, but key legal and financial terms remain unclear.

In 2013, players learned every road in Los Santos.
Yesterday, GTA 6 opened a new city for 26 minutes.
The controller stayed the same size.

DAY 18/100: THE SPACE SHE LEFT
As a child, Yayoi Kusama saw dots covering the world.
She spent a lifetime painting what only she could see, until the rest of us could step inside it.
Now one space is empty.
The pattern keeps going.
DAY 17/100: THE TREE THAT HELD
A hissing sound came from the river. Bibek ran.
Mud and water carried him downstream until a mango tree caught him.
Police pulled him to safety with an injured leg.
One branch held through the flood.
On Aug. 26, a flash flood struck Nepal’s Bhote Koshi-Trishuli corridor. Its exact cause and casualty figures were still being established. Reuters reported that worker Bibek Kumal, 24, survived after a mango tree stopped him downstream. reuters.com/business/environ…
DAY 16/100: THE LAKE BETWEEN
This morning, someone offered Lake Ontario a new name.
America stood on one shore. Canada stood on the other.
The words pulled hard across the water.
The lake kept touching both.
On Aug. 25, President Trump said the U.S. was considering renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America” amid a trade dispute with Canada. The lake borders New York and Ontario. No executive order or other formal renaming action was announced.

DAY 15/100: THE VANISHING PAUSE
Someone pressed enter.
The cursor barely had time to blink before the answer arrived.
Behind it, racks of new chips were working to make that pause smaller.
Soon, waiting may become a memory.
Nvidia said on Aug. 24 that Groq 3 LPX entered full production. An Artificial Analysis test using Gemma 4 31B with a 100,000-token context measured 3,400 output tokens/sec. It is one benchmark on one model and does not measure answer quality.

DAY 14/100: THE NEXT PAGE
The stage in Chiba had already ended.
Then the screen lit up with two more voyages, one for 2027 and another for 2029.
A story that began in 1997 is still finding new seas.
At One Piece Day ’26 in Chiba on Aug 23, two films were announced: One Piece Film: God Valley for summer 2027 in Japan, and One Piece Film: Baad for 2029. Plot, staff and international dates remain unannounced.
