One of the most viral accounts on X right now is a book club. The world is healing.
These books will give you a better education than almost any school curriculum in the West today.
In our academic system, you can go from Pre-K to PhD without reading a word of Homer, Thucydides, Plato, Aristotle, Virgil, Augustine, Dante, or Milton.
We set up the Athenaeum Book Club to fight back. If schools and universities won't teach the Great Books, we must form our own reading circles. These are some of the texts we've read together, or will cover soon.
Join our reading group to study the great works in dialogue with others.
We are just starting The Brothers Karamazov.
If you've been on the fence about joining our group, now's the time. You do NOT want to miss this.
We're reading Brothers K. over the next 6 weeks. The next discussion is on August 18th.
Take out a paid subscription if you'd like to support us and join the discussions directly — it makes a huge difference to the time and resources we can dedicate.
You'll get:
- Live book club discussions (biweekly)
- Access to our incredible community chat
- Essays to guide you through the Great Books
- All past recordings, essays, and podcasts
- Ability to vote on what we read next

Can we all agree it would be so much easier if airlines simply boarded the back of the plane first and worked their way down? Let first class people sit in a lounge or something idk. Like how has no one implemented this.

That a family had to lose a son, brother and father; that a teenage girl had to film and post a murder, that millions across the country had to organize and march just for George Floyd to be seen and valued is not justice.
And this verdict is not a substitute for policy change.

republicans love to tell you to take personal responsibility, but when their own shitty behavior gets people impeached, infected, or killed, it's the deep state / media / libs' fault.
It's your OWN damn fault, trumpers.

If you can confirm a Supreme Court Justice in 8 days, then you can impeach a President in 10.

Even in the Civil War, the Confederate flag never got close the Capitol. More than 150 years later, the sight of a man casually carrying one outside the Senate floor was a piercing reminder of the persistence of white supremacism.

Over 1,000 Americans are dying each day from the coronavirus. 40 million Americans face eviction. 92 million Americans are uninsured or under-insured. It's time for the Republicans to stop trying to delegitimize the election and work with us to pass a COVID-19 relief bill NOW!

You know what's REALLY awesome?
Joe Biden is actually WORKING right now, not having random Twitter tantrums or insulting people, cares about helping Americans, AND HE'S OUR PRESIDENT.
Feels good.
