Do not let the passing days make us forget Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the physician who continued fulfilling his humanitarian duty in Gaza amid war and danger, refusing to abandon his patients despite the pain and threats surrounding him.
Hussam Abu Safiya is not just a name that appeared in the news. He is the story of a doctor who chose to stand by his people when staying meant risking his life.
Do not forget him. Do not let his case fade into silence. Keep demanding his freedom. Behind this name is a human being who deserves to remain in our conscience until the day he is free.

The 2026 First Committee discussion on nuclear weapons reinforced an underlying tension between countries who support the use of them and the global majority who oppose to it.
From ICAN, we remind states that #disarmament is the only security that lasts.

Over one year since the ceasefire agreement, more than 1,400 people have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, nearly two million still need shelter, not a single hospital is fully functioning, and 1.4 million face crisis-level hunger.
Accountability cannot be swept under the rubble. The recovery and future of Gaza cannot be separated from a framework grounded in international law, justice, and the rights of victims.
The persistent failure to hold Israel accountable and press Israel to comply with the International Court of Justice’s binding orders continues to fuel the atrocity crimes on a mass scale against Palestinians.

Attacks directed against civilians are prohibited under international law.
Yet, from the Middle East to Ukraine to Sudan, we are seeing civilians & civilian infrastructure deliberately thrust into the line of fire.
Nothing seems to be off-limits: homes, hospitals, schools, airports, power stations & energy facilities.
These attacks must stop.

“Gaza’s children are trying to recover their childhoods, to find some routine and stability in their young lives, which for too many have again been cut short. A ceasefire that does not protect children has failed them.” - @UNICEFmena's Edouard Beigbeder

Few people in the world have had such a profound impact on the global good, so clearly, powerfully, kindly, and humbly as Dr. Ron McCoy. His vision inspired a movement of consciences dedicated to the abolition of nuclear weapons, @nuclearban. Here with at the Conference on the Humanitarian Consequences of Nuclear Weapons in Nayarit, Mexico. 2014. @IPPNW

Deeply saddened by the apparent attack on dear @helenhainesindi, a shining light of decency, integrity, and goodness and a highly-respected senior health professional.
Wishing for as speedy and full a recovery as superb health care can enable.

“A vast public artwork naming 18,457 children killed in Gaza has arrived in Sydney, confronting viewers with individual lives too easily reduced to statistics.”

Glad to see Congress moving. For more about the US-Saudi nuclear deal, read Alan Kuperman (@Kuperman2020)'s piece published earlier this week in @BulletinAtomic: thebulletin.org/2026/10/cong…
The U.S.-Saudi nuclear deal is about megatons, not megawatts. Trump should not be sharing nuclear bomb technology with a nation that U.S. intelligence says may want nuclear weapons. This is the starting gun for a Middle East nuclear arms race. We must reject this dangerous deal.

ALT Graphic of headline that reads, "Democratic Senators Move to Block U.S.-Saudi Nuclear Deal. The move will force a vote on the agreement after the midterm elections, though it faces steep odds in the Republican-controlled Congress even amid bipartisan concern about the deal." Killing or injuring healthcare workers, bombing hospitals, and targeting ambulances aren't just "war consequences." They are a collapse of humanity.
Under international humanitarian law, patients and humanitarian workers are protected along with the hospitals they work in and the ambulances they rely on.

Great news that High Court has ruled Scope 3 emissions (exported carbon pollution) must be considered in new environmental approvals for coal mines. I’ve moved two Bills in the Parliament to that effect, both times rejected by the enviro-vandals in the ALP and LNP #auspol
