๐Ÿ“š I'm taking pre-orders for my new book starting today: ๐˜๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ: ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ ๐˜‰๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜š๐˜ข๐˜ข๐˜š ๐˜•๐˜ฐ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ž๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ด ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ˆ๐˜จ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ˆ๐˜ Sixteen years ago, I wrote ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต ๐˜š๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ, ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜บ ๐˜š๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ for developers with a day job and an itch to build something of their own. Since then, my books have sold more than 100,000 copies. ๐Ÿค– A lot has changed since 2010. AI lets you build software in an afternoon that once took months. But it doesnโ€™t stop you from building something nobody wants. It just lets you do it faster. ๐Ÿ’ธ Finding a problem people will pay to solve. Talking to customers when youโ€™d rather be coding. Getting strangers to give you money. Those parts still take work. And another weekend of prompting doesn't make them go away. So I wrote the book Iโ€™d hand a founder starting from zero today: โœ… Sixteen more years of launches, wins, and expensive mistakes โœ… More than 240 SaaS investments โœ… Everything Iโ€™d tell you before you disappear into a month-long building spree Derek Sivers wrote the foreword. His verdict: โ€œThis is now the ultimate current authority on the subject, updated for a very different world.โ€ ๐Ÿ”ฅ Available for pre-order today (and get several bonuses only if you pre-order). Grab your copy at the link below ๐Ÿ‘‡ Whether you buy a copy, give this a RT, or both, I appreciate your support ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Between 60 and 70% of B2B SaaS acquisitions involve private equity. Most founders can't tell those firms apart, and @einarvollset of Discretion Capital / @tinyseedfund says that's exactly the problem. His breakdown at MicroConf Europe. ๐Ÿงต

We're not running a fall Accelerator batch this year. The next one will be Spring 2027. The market for early-stage SaaS is moving fast, and we'd rather come back with a sharper program than run one on last year's playbook. We're as bullish on bootstrapped SaaS as we've ever been. A client chased 70K deals on a 7mo sales cycle while 30K deals closed in 1 month. Run the math over six months and the smaller deals win by 10x. Focus isn't mindset. It's arithmetic. Julien Marzouk coaches founders at the TinySeed SaaS Institute on exactly this. For the six patterns he sees again and again, listen in on @startupspod:
What got you to $1M won't get you to $10M. @robwalling talks with coach Julien Marzouk about the identity shift every founder must make: from operator to leader. Ep. 843 ๐Ÿ‘‡ startupsfortherestofus.com/eโ€ฆ

I think weโ€™ll see more organized capital following the @tinyseedfund model in coming years, and angels should certainly diversity.
10 years ago, I wanted to become an "angel investor." Signed up for AngelList when syndicates first came out in 2014. Invested about $300K from 2014-2019 across 53 deals. Backed the best names and top syndicates on the platform. IRR: 7.8% ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

Yup. Especially the entrepreneurs I see posting a lot on social media. One of the most important things we do with @tinyseedfund companies is try to steer them away from the fake work Laura is talking about.
you can easily spend 40 hours/week on activities that do absolutely nada to grow revenue OR profitability, and I would say that's exactly what most entrepreneurs are doing

The same B2B SaaS business can get offers from $5M to $25M. Same revenue. Same churn. Same product. 5x difference in what ends up in the founder's pocket. @einarvollset (@tinyseedfund, Discretion Capital) on why the SaaS M&A market is wildly inefficient. YouTube link in ๐Ÿงต:

What should I talk about at MicroConf Iceland this fall? Iโ€™m looking for ideas for a 35-minute main-stage talk. A couple constraints: โ€ข No early-stage validation or โ€œhow to launchโ€ topics โ€ข No AI talks, Iโ€™ve covered that ground plenty What are you thinking about these days? Whatโ€™s a topic youโ€™d want me to unpack? (Even if youโ€™re not attending, the talk will be on YouTube a few months after the event.)

Huh - TinySeed Fund 1 is top 3% of all 2019 vintage funds on Carta (we have > 1x DPI). Kinda insane that less than half of funds in that vintage has returned even a single dollar.

When you're scaling a SaaS business from $1M-$10M ARR, you need hands-on help from people who've done what you're trying to do. That's why we created the SaaS Institute, and why we brought on a dedicated Program Manager, Justine Clark: tinyseed.com/latest/meet-saaโ€ฆ

Was just talking to one of our fund 1 LPs and was quite gratified that weโ€™ve already outcompeted (in terms of actual cash on cash) most of his real estate investments from that era. Real estate is usually safer, shorter term and faster ROI than venture ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ
