OFCOM: Ofcom was set up to regulate telecoms and broadcasting in 2003. Today, it has more than 1,600 staff and a remit that reaches deep into what we see and say online.
There may be a legitimate role for tightly limited technical and economic regulation. That does not give the state a right to control lawful expression or decide which opinions reach an audience.
Many would argue Ofcom’s online speech remit should be removed, and we should explicitly prohibit regulatory interference in the ranking or promotion of lawful news and opinion.

7th November. There is work to be done and that can make a difference.
In the last year since Together’s last event we’ve all had 3 major victories
1 We all saw off mandatory Digital ID for work in that form. Starmer’s albatross. (We still face massive issues One Login Social media ban ) BUT if no fightback we’d have that in place now
2. Farmers IHT U turn
3. Assisted Suicide Bill
This shows what can happen when we all campaign, leaflet, lobby, do events, protests, activations and press as a concerted combined active force with the public at the front and centre
We’ve got much more work to do on free speech, privacy & ongoing attempts to force digtial id so come along on Sat 7 Nov @Togetherdec

REVEALED: Government Document Admits Pay-Per-Mile Tax Coming for All Drivers order-order.com/2026/10/26/r…

This post goes some way to explaining the dire financial straits the UK is in...
"Britain has almost run out of taxpayers, or at the very least, it’s slowly running out of people who pay enough taxes to plausibly finance the state."
"...in 1998, about 43 per cent of British earners paid sufficient tax to cover the Government’s average per-capita spending. During Covid, that figure fell to an absolute low of circa 20 per cent, then by 2025 recovered modestly to 26.6 per cent."
No wonder if fewer than 27% of people are net contributors to the state
It's stats like this that make me want to leave. Big new project in the US in the next few months might be just the springboard I need

Up to 8 MILLION Company Directors and others have been told:
Verify your identity digitally with One Login
Or use an intermediary : typical cost £60 - £120
Or get prosecuted
We need a proper independent review of One Login and a legal guarantee that nobody will be forced – or financially pressured – to use this digital identity system @UKLabour @andyburnham @CompaniesHouse

Governments keep telling us ID checks will make the internet safer. Here is what an ID check actually did for a woman in Pennsylvania.
Cash App demanded Social Security numbers to stop fraud. Hers leaked in a data breach, a scammer opened an account with it, and the police arrested her for his crime. She spent three nights in jail. Cash App now refuses to show her the account because she can’t prove it’s hers, which is exactly what she has been telling them.
Every ID check builds another vault of stolen identities waiting to happen. The more of them we’re forced through, the easier fraud gets, and the people paying for it are the ones who did everything they were told.
NO BACKDOOR DIGITAL ID: Freeze One Login
Public opposition stopped the Government’s proposed national Digital ID scheme.
But GOV UK One Login continues to expand across 250+ government services, functions and processes – including obligations people must fulfil, rather than merely optional “services”.
We are calling for an immediate freeze on further expansion, a proper independent review and a legal guarantee that nobody will be forced – or financially pressured – to use it.
BE AN ACTION TAKER:

“Politicians and Ofcom continue to demand tech companies redesign their services for children while pushing compulsory identity verification.
They ignore existing parental controls … If child safety was really a top priority, why aren’t they teaching parents how to use these controls?”
I’d like to expose the lack of technical expertise behind British online child safety policies, challenge Ofcom’s credibility, and explain why existing parental controls should be prioritised over compulsory identity verification.
To anyone with expertise in online child safety, this is more word soup from another British MP.
I’ve advised the British government on these matters, and I can say with confidence that despite their confident statements, politicians demonstrate a lack of basic technical knowledge.
The same applies to Ofcom.
After multiple meetings with Ofcom and the British Home Office about SMS fraud, I was told the Home Office would write to Ofcom asking it to stop misleading the public about SMS fraud because it was siding with mobile operators instead of the public.
During my final meeting with Ofcom, I asked why it continued to repeat claims I’d already demonstrated were technically false, including through testing that involved every UK mobile network operator.
My experience has left me convinced that Ofcom is causing more harm than good.
The same problem is evident in the debate about online child safety.
Smartphones already have excellent parental controls that millions of parents and schools use to block unsuitable apps, websites and services, restrict content and set time limits.
Yet politicians and Ofcom continue to demand that tech companies redesign their services for children while pushing compulsory identity verification.
They ignore existing parental controls that allow parents to protect their children without forcing everyone else to surrender their privacy and online anonymity.
If child safety was really a top priority, why aren’t they teaching parents how to use these controls?
Journalists should be asking politicians and regulators two simple questions.
Why aren’t you educating parents about the parental controls already built into smartphones, which independent technical experts in child safety and mobile security consider highly effective?
And why are you demanding that social media and other companies make their content safe for children while simultaneously arguing that children should be banned from those same services?
You need to pick one.
Making every adult service safe for every child is technically impossible. Preventing children from accessing unsuitable services is already possible through smartphone parental controls.
Parents can decide what’s appropriate for their own children without forcing an entire country to surrender its privacy and online anonymity.
The relentless push for compulsory identity verification, while ignoring existing parental controls, tells me that protecting children isn’t the real priority.

I don’t have £2 million in assets, and I don’t earn £200k a year. I’m quite short on both counts. So the HMRC wealth audit doesn’t impact me. Yet.
But it signals a clear intention. A lack of respect for the individual. What is yours is only yours until the government decides they want it to fund further welfare expansion.
Property rights only exist in this country as long as your holdings are meagre enough to escape the fiscal Eye of Sauron. They will come for it all.
ONE LOGIN: "They can’t be trusted… I don’t even use the NHS App" (Stephany)
FREEZE ONE LOGIN: We call for an immediate freeze on One Login pending independent review by the National Audit Office - meaning no further rollout or expansion until that review is complete and safeguards are in place
