Ever wished you had shorthands like padding-x or margin-y?
Meet padding-block, padding-inline, margin-block, margin-inline etc!
E.g. developer.mozilla.org/en-US/…
And as a bonus, they adapt to the writing mode!
Support is not amazing, but not terrible either: caniuse.com/mdn-css_properti…

If we want to see a more peaceful world, we have to learn to collaborate. Young people shouldn’t follow previous patterns of behaviour. New conditions, like our interdependent, globalised world, require new ideas. Dividing people into ‘us’ and ‘them’ is out of date.

Oh, another cool custom element we can use!
With `<markdown-toolbar>` we can enhance our markdown textarea to help users format text easier!
1⃣ `import '@ github/markdown-toolbar-element'`
2⃣ add the `<markdown-toolbar>` with the buttons you want
`<two-up>` is a custom element you can use to add a visual comparison feature to any website/app:
1⃣ `import 'two-up-element'` (or use a cdn link)
2⃣ use `<two-up>` around any two HTML elements
3⃣ that's it, enjoy!
Web Components are awesome!

I managed to get simple 3D physics working in the prototype for my WebXR game for #js13k. Best part is, I'm not using any extra libs! It's all vanilla JS, clocking in at 9 KB right now. The hand mesh alone is 3 KB so I'm sure there's plenty room for optimization, too.

who would've thought stuff that need to just work is not hidden behind transpilers and non standard indirections 😏

#webcomponents in space!
SpaceX have confirmed the use of Web Components in the Chromium base UI onboard Crew Dragon!
They've come a long way since we first started using them on the UI almost 5 years ago now. Checkout the SpaceX reddit AMA:

So #JS made it into space! #SpaceX uses #Chromium + #JavaScript for the Dragon 2 flight interface along with C++ for flight computers. JavaScript is not a toy folk, time to accept it. #NASA @BrendanEich space.stackexchange.com/ques…

I think we should just ask Facebook for their "People you may know" algorithm. They solved the contact-tracing problem ages ago.

I started freelancing in design/dev at 16, I'm in my early 30's now.
I have a young face and many people read me as mid 20's. They expect 4ish years experience, but I actually have 15.
Who else has #youngfacesyndrome? What do you do establish your experience and credibility?
