Let me explain why is @VardaSpace is such an important company A patient who has cancer has cells that have proteins that are activated leading to growth, replication and then damage. Targeted drugs work on these cells in 2 ways: 1. Inhibit the receptor (the protein), essentially jamming its function until the drug wears off. An example is Tamoxifen, used in breast cancer to block oestrogen receptor binding. 2. Degrading the receptor altogether so signalling doesn't work and the cell needs to spend time recreating the receptor before it can work again, an example being Fulvestrant which degrades the receptor itself. The second option here is important to understand because the effect of it significantly out lasts how long the drug lasts in your system. One type of these drugs is called PROTACs - it's a newer type of cancer drug that destroys these proteins (proteolysis) removing functions often related to cancer signalling. Now these drugs are complex, 15+ chemical steps and can be upto 4x more heavy than normal drugs. With each molecule taking many shapes, when packed together, they often don't form a uniform lattice shape. On Earth, gravity leads to convection currents that feeds these molecules unevenly into the forming crystal, too fast resulting in non-uniform crystal formation. These drugs: - Dissolve poorly when ingested - Have difficulties crossing cell membranes - Lead to unpredictable bioavailability - Require high doses in order to get enough drug in the system Varda here by @WillBruey and @zebulgar aims to solves this with undisturbed crystal formation growth in microgravity. With a new purer drug you get: - Predictable bioavailability - A more stable drug - A better outcome for patients This is Varda

We’re 3 for 3 in orbit this October. This time, it’s space drugs. W-7 carries pharmaceutical hardware and a promising new type of cancer medicine known as a protein degrader. Microgravity will help overcome one of its biggest limitations: poor solubility.

This is the tip of the iceberg for synthetic biology. Our data centers are still primarily powered by biology. Natural gas crimes from biology’s ability to organize matter in a negentropic way. Biology gives us order at very little economic cost. Programming it efficiently will lead to a new Cambrian explosion.
I'm excited to share something I've been working on... NeoGenesis Capital is a new fund focused on the intersection of superintelligence and synthetic biology. I believe some of the most extraordinary breakthroughs of the coming decade will happen at this intersection. I'll be sharing more on @moonshots_pod soon, including why I'm so excited about what's ahead!

NYC is the epicenter of chicken innovation. Fun fact: chickens will soon account for a substantial proportion of NYC GDP.
When the hen is the bioreactor, flock health is process control. Neion Bio engineers hens to make biologic drugs in their eggs. Now it is bringing in Barnwell Bio, whose founders come from COVID wastewater surveillance, to watch the health of its flocks. Subscribe to our newsletter and get the biggest biotech news straight to your inbox 🧬 syntheticbiologysummit.com/?… "Neion uses chickens to manufacture recombinant proteins. Barnwell provides the intelligence needed to understand and protect the health environment in which those chickens live," says Dimi Kellari, cofounder and CEO of Neion Bio Two #Manhattan biotechs, one unusual partnership. We’ve spent a long time thinking about how agents will monetize. Our index blends semantic ranking for organic results with an auction-based ranking model to allow developer tools to sponsor some of the results in our list of suggestions made to agents. Our method allows agents to maximize the % of revenue they can capture on commerce, while maintaining the highest quality product suggestions possible. Importantly, our solution ensures that new customer acquisition is actually incremental for merchants, delivering customers that they would not have acquired otherwise. This has been wildly successful during our alpha and beta, so I’m excited to make it generally available.
Today we’re releasing an index of developer tools that pays you every time your Agent searches it. Introducing the Gravity Index: a free catalog of 1,600+ developer tools that agents can search to find the right tool for any task. Agents get paid on every call, funded by the brands listed in the index. Special thanks to @FreebuffHQ and @ctodotnew for testing with us, and to everyone else that's started using it over the past few weeks.

Here’s a quick rundown of our payloads: W-8: - Canopy Aerospace’s Smart TPS-F to measure reentry using fiber-optic sensors. - Next-generation thermal protection materials funded through two partners: a government program, and the @AFResearchLab, which funds payloads through the Prometheus program. W-9: - Navigation system designed to collect data during hypersonic flight. - Additional heatshield materials from @syensqo. More vehicles, more returns, more data, double the fun.

This is the first time Varda has launched two spacecraft on the same rocket. We’ve operated two vehicles in orbit simultaneously but launching W-8 and W-9 together represents a shift to fleet operations as we increase launch and reentry cadence.

Saronic has been awarded a production OT under the U.S. Navy's MUSV Marketplace for Marauder, our 180-foot dual-use autonomous ship — following a rigorous at-sea evaluation that tested the vessel’s capabilities. The trials included autonomously tracking and maneuvering around a variety of vessels, plus a battery of passive-perception tests — requiring Marauder to detect, track, and follow other vessels using only its passive onboard sensors, with no active radar. It's one of the hardest problems in autonomous maritime systems, and Marauder ran every scenario back-to-back on the same platform now under contract with the Navy. "Marauder went from initial design to on-the-water in under a year, and this evaluation demonstrated that the platform holds up under the Navy's own toughest testing," said Dino Mavrookas, CEO and Co-Founder. "We've now flipped our third Marauder hull, with several more moving through the production line behind it. We can build at that pace because we designed the autonomy, software, hardware, and the production process side-by-side, as one system, rather than bolting them together after the fact. That's what it means to be a vertically integrated shipbuilder, and it's why we've been able to build and deliver at speed and scale."

America’s critical supply chain won’t be fixed by a single player. It’s a collective effort that will require co-investment and collaboration between the public and private sectors.  Our CEO, Jai Malik, joined Jeffrey Frankston (Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of War, Industrial Base Resilience), Andy Magliochetti (Deputy Assistant for the Defense Industrial Base, US Department of the Navy), Rolf Zeising (General Atomics), and Bryan Clark (Senior Fellow and Director, Hudson Institute) yesterday afternoon at the @HudsonInstitute, to discuss how we can come together to form a stronger, more resilient defense industrial base.  Watch the full discussion here: hudson.org/events/manufactur…

Proud of the @Saronic team and the work behind this award. We're building Port Alpha to bring American shipbuilding back with speed and scale. This award is a real step forward in delivering for today’s fleet while building the hybrid fleet of tomorrow.
We’re excited to announce that Saronic has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract to build Landing Craft Utility (LCU) vessels at Port Alpha, our next-generation shipyard in Brownsville, Texas. Capable of transporting troops, vehicles, and up to 170 tons of cargo directly to beaches and unimproved shorelines, LCUs are essential to amphibious operations, resupply, and disaster-response missions. As Port Alpha’s first build, this program marks an important step toward expanding America’s maritime industrial capacity. It also advances our mission to deliver the vessels the Navy needs today while building toward an autonomous maritime future. Production is expected to begin in 2028, with initial deliveries planned for 2029. Read the full announcement: medium.com/saronic-technolog…
