Equally questionable is whether broadcasters and media should give airtime and coverage to thinktanks whose funding sources are unknown - effectively allowing anonymous interests to influence and sometimes direct the public discourse, for reasons and motives unknown.

Organisations can decide where to set their donor privacy bar within the bounds of the law. The question is whether witholding information about major donors, when trying to influence public policy, is in the public interest. If not, charitable status is questionable.
