turbo mode is web search that's super fast (~200ms), super affordable ($1 per 1,000 searches), and high quality, opening up a whole new frontier of what agents can do with the web
it's built for the scale and shape of demand the agentic web requires
this is cool. excited about the future where we squeeze efficiency out of training, inference, and retrieval to do a lot more for less. it's the only way this whole thing works
We formally announced Mirendil less than 4 months ago. Today, I'm excited to share an important milestone for:
Pretraining at scale without a pretraining team.
Mirendil's mission is to solve Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI) and use it to democratize frontier AI development, ultimately accelerating science and technology. At Mirendil, when we think about RSI, we think holistically about the company as an intelligent entity that self-improves toward its goal. From that perspective, the most powerful notion of acceleration is reducing the time and resources (number of human experts, compute, and other costs) needed to achieve ambitious goals.
Given that pretraining is perhaps the most important yet most challenging part of frontier AI development, we decided to run an ambitious controlled experiment: Starting fully from scratch, can we significantly reduce the time, number of human experts, and compute resources needed to go all the way to successfully pretraining a strong coding model at scale?
Mirendil-Base is the result of this experiment. Our first pretrained model was built by one researcher in 3.5 months, with less than $10M in compute. This includes all the research and small-scale experiments it took to get there, as well as the final training run.
The recipe holds up as the models get bigger. For reference, Mirendil-Base is in the 100B-500B parameter range, Mirendil-Base-Large in the 500B-2T range, and Mirendil-Base-XL in the 2T-10T range.
We're beginning to see a world where a single researcher, empowered by AI, can take on work that once required an entire research organization. As these systems improve, the bottleneck shifts from the size of a team to the ambition and judgment of the people directing them. This has profound implications for who gets to build AI and, ultimately, who gets to push the frontiers of science and technology forward.
We’ll share independent evaluations, post-training benchmarks and API-access sooner than you think so stay tuned!
agents need to see the whole picture to be useful
@p0 helps give them that context, and we put up some billboard in nyc to tell that story

who benchmarks the benchmarkers?
a good eval is:
- ephemeral. it snapshots a moment in time and capabilities.
- grounded. it directly measures performance on tasks and data you care about.
- specific. it operates on the desired results and not some proxy of them.
take notes!
Typesafe's CEO @CompleteSkeptic does not trust public benchmarks.
Neither do I, Diogo.
So @p0 and I wrote a blog evaluating 8 decision models on real company training datasets we have personally audited and iterated on.
For what it's worth though, Jev is still on top 👑

NEW: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (1017) is the highest-performing open model we've measured.
It's the first to crack the top 10 on the Search Capability Leaderboard across open- and closed-source models.
🚀 DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 is here!
Stronger benchmark performance, faster task completion, and shorter outputs than the previous version—a Pareto improvement in performance and cost. Now live on our website, app, and API.
🛠️ Optimized for @DeepSeekHarness, Tencent CodeBuddy, WorkBuddy, and more. Upgrade to DeepSeek Harness v0.2.1-rc.1 or later for the best experience with the new model.

search and browsing are better together
most agents need to both read + write to the web, esp with the rise of personal agents
starting today @p0 is the default search provider for
@browserbase, powering their Search API and Agents
Browserbase Search is now powered by Parallel (@p0) as the default search provider.
Parallel Fast returns sub-second results when speed matters. Parallel Advanced goes deeper for multi-step research when quality matters most.

Major paradigm shift incoming. Thoughtful predictors of the future like @paraga are building for when agents become the primary users of the internet. What happens when they also become the sales prospect, the recruiter, the scheduler, the enforcer, and more?

We're thrilled to welcome Adil Syed as Head of Finance.
Adil brings 20+ years of experience in finance and operations, with roles at Goldman Sachs, Snapchat, and most recently, Rippling, where he was early CFO and oversaw corporate development, investor relations, and strategic partnerships. He's a true zero-to-one operator.
His team is hiring and will be adding more roles soon: parallel.ai/careers

Agents require completely different search inputs, outputs, and latencies
“The problem’s inputs are different, outputs are different, and constraints are different.
Imagine someone running an agent built with a Luna model and someone running an agent built with a Fable model. They are very different models.
How you want to optimize signal-to-noise and tokens for each of them is so different in terms of what you do in the web search stack.” @paraga
Love to hear your thoughts @sarahmsachs @simonlast @RLanceMartin @charlespacker

“Ads do not work with agents in their current form. Agents show up, no one sees ads, and you make no money.
We are effectively building an AdSense for agents showing up to read your content.
We like to pay content owners a variable amount of money every time an agent derives benefit from reading their information.” @paraga

Parallel is now live in @Lovable.
Bring fresh, relevant, reliable web data into any app.

“Agents will use the web 1,000x more than humans. Hence, new tech is needed and new business models are needed.
No tech built for a certain scale survives three orders of magnitude.
When you need new business models alongside new technology, a problem becomes really interesting.” @paraga
better data = better agents
@p0 can pull from crunchbase, harmonic, polymarket, pubmed and a growing list of trusted sources
Today we're launching Data Connectors in Parallel.
Your agents can now work with specialized third-party data through Parallel's best-in-class agentic web research APIs.
Our first partners are @AlliumLabs, @useapolloio, @Baselayerhq, @CarbonArcAI, @crunchbase, Faraday AI, @harmonic_ai, @MiddeskHQ, @Similarweb , @particle_news, @pensa_systems, and @Polymarket.
We're also launching free, opt-in access to biomedical sources including PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and ChEMBL.
