I hadn’t written C in 13 years. Then we needed a minor Postgres upgrade. 56TB, growing by 250GB a day. This took up a fair chunk of my summer, with plenty of help from the team. The full story below, failed cutover and all 👇

This summer we upgraded our 56TB Postgres database with (almost) no downtime. And we moved all new runs to @planetscale Metal. This post covers everything we did and everything we learned along the way. tgr.dev/LuKQYce

This was one of the first PRs I opened after joining @triggerdotdev. Apart from saving a ton of CPU on our servers, the upgrades to TS7 and Zod4 have made our typechecks nice and speedy. Theoretically lower LSP memory usage too, but these days I don't keep neovim open long enough to find out...

We (finally) upgraded to Zod 4.5 (from 3.x!) and our worker CPU demand plummeted, our batch throughput increased by 14% and our task trigger p99 dropped by 18%. Aaaand in unrelated news… We're now the platinum sponsor for Zod! Zod is one of those bits that we use and love and rely on every day and that's why we wanted to support the work @colinhacks is doing. Full write-up here: tgr.dev/igN16BI

We spent the last 6 months building our take on a chat agent SDK. It’s open source and uses the stateful compute that powers our existing tasks and workflows.

We didn't win, but we shipped something we're proud of 🛩️ Contrail: A geospatial chat agent built with @alain_0012 for the @ClickHouseDB × @triggerdotdev hackathon. Ask the sky anything; the answer is a live radar, an animated route network, or a full-day replay of 66M real flights from @OpenSkyNetwork Shoutout to the tools that made it fun: @shadcn ui, @Mapbox , @aisdk by @vercel . Thanks to both teams for a genuinely well-run hackathon Congrats to the winners — the bar was high. Everything's open source: 🎥 youtu.be/mr4a_KVwlww ▶️ contrail-web.vercel.app 💻 github.com/mimrai-org/contra…

On 22-23 June our us-east-1 and eu-central-1 regions had periods of downtime and the overall incident lasted 18 hours. This falls way short of the reliability we aim for. I’m really sorry to all our customers, who will be receiving credits for that period and more. What happened, why it took so long to recover, and what we’re changing (starting from yesterday): trigger.dev/blog/incident-re…

one of the problems which we'd run into with looooong running tasks like migrations was that when we do a new deployment, they'd just die used to be on the fence where we'd own compute for durable workflows but after having this solved by @triggerdotdev my mind is changed

This was a fun conversation with Matt and Eric about design and how they built and rebuilt @triggerdotdev 3x before finding product market fit. Congrats on your Series A, guys!
Trigger.dev lets developers add AI agents to their products with a simple SDK, handling execution, long-running workflows, and reliability so they don't have to. Over 90% of their usage now comes from agent workflows, and they recently announced their $16M Series A led by Standard Capital. In this episode of Founder Firesides, co-founders @mattaitken and @maverickdotdev sat down with YC's @koomen to talk about three versions of the product before finding product market fit, how building async infrastructure for two years accidentally put them in the perfect position for the agent era, and why they think the future of computing is programmatic checkpoint and restore — freezing and resuming compute on demand.
