Best argument for term limits I’ve ever heard. “I can’t do my constitutional role of protecting the country because I am afraid I might lose a seat where my job is to protect the country.”
It’s kinda disgusting. You swore an oath for God’s sake.

I have been to India approximately 20 times. I have visited every region, nearly every state. I have spent time in mega cities and small villages. Traveled by car many hundreds of kilometers between cities, towns and villages. Looking through this thread, I see many people posting pictures and video to paint India in an ugly light. I have personally seen pretty much every sort of scene that I see being posted (and I have seen worse), these scenes are real, but they are not India in whole. India also has very high-end restaurants, five star hotels, clean streets, beautiful forests, pristine streams, and amazing, wonderful, intelligent people.

I repeat: the two great lessons of the 20th century—taught to us through buckets of blood, human misery, and pointless cruelty—were that we need a better grasp of economics, and that ideology is how you turn IQ points against themselves, good people into monsters, and rich countries into disasters.
And we have chosen to learn neither.
Yes, I think this is an indictment of our K–PhD education system, but I also think it is an indictment of our ability to learn a damn thing from history.
And yes, I am talking right and left

We used to be a culture that elevated builders because we could see clearly that if things don’t actually work, we suffer and die.
Now we’re a culture that elevates talkers—talkers who often attack builders—because we’ve forgotten that everything our lives depend on can break.

Gallup reports 89% in the U.S. say corruption in govt is widespread. It’s one of the few things Rs, Ds and Independents agree on. But SCOTUS makes it tough to combat and legislators are like foxes guarding the chicken coop. If a nation can’t combat this, it can’t be successful.

I think people who have individual liberty as their guiding star AND uphold that consistently (rather than only when it serves their tribe) have to think through their principles more thoroughly than those who wish to impose their own views on everybody else.

I usually dislike speed cameras. I accept that there should be a law but think that appropriate speeds are determined much more by road conditions than by posted signs, and notice that almost everyone speeds a lot in many places where posted speeds are too low.
I do not trust the government to set speeds efficiently, and I resent being punished for maintaining the flow of traffic, particularly in areas where I’m passing through for the first time and get surprised by unknown traffic cameras. I do not think most speeding should be ticketed.
I strongly prefer speed laws be enforced by humans with discretion and judgment who can tell the difference between someone recklessly weaving between every narrow gap and someone going 15 over on a straight, empty stretch of highway with no real danger to others present.
How people think about speed limits is so funny. They want there to be a law and think that's important, but it's also important that the law only be enforced infrequently, randomly and unpredictably, and by humans who pull you over. They don't want the law to be, like, something that actually just applies consistently to everyone all the time. They want it to be a special little surprise.

If there’s one plus to the Trump era it’s the screaming Red Alert example he’s made that we’ve let the power of the President get completely out of control. To “make America great again” we need the restoration of the 3-branch Constitutional triad that diffuses power&authority.

And there are the four truths about free speech that everyone should know:

The fact that America has such ready access to wild land and outdoor sports that we can sustain giant, affordable chain stores centered around hunting and fishing—pursuits that remain quarantined to the rich in much of the rest of the world—is a great national achievement.

There are so many things to criticize Democrats over, but here you are slamming them for blocking unconstitutional spying on Americans. You absolutely suck at this.
As millions of Americans gather for large events and summer celebrations, Democrats just BLOCKED the FISA Section 702 national security statute, hampering our ability to detect foreign terrorist threats.
This comes after Democrats shut down Homeland Security.
This is a stunning and dangerous fact: Democrats are now willing to put petty politics over public safety.
