13 years ago, I emailed Dr. Fauci out of the blue to ask if I might interview him for my undergrad thesis. He invited me to his office, where he answered all my questions. When I sent him the thesis, HE READ THE WHOLE THING (see his overly effusive review below). Who does that?!

Let me spell it out for you: I don’t give a fuck how it looks, or care for your take of ‘racism is something that happens far away from me’. It’s everywhere; seek it out, challenge it, learn. Music IS politics, black lives matter, grow up, get involved, or fuck off.

Boy you’d think a country that can equip every cop like a soldier could equip every doctor like a doctor

If you are an employer, considering giving team members time off today / this week. Whether to participate in peaceful protests, to help clean their neighborhoods, to volunteer, or just to emotionally process state of our world. This is bigger than work.

Dance music is inherently political
It came from Black, Latino, and LGBTQ cultures
It was social commentary
Records were burned and destroyed
To deny the place of politics in dance is to reap the benefits of these cultures, while ignoring and white-washing what it stands for

I think it’s important that we’re alert and grounded in reality. However, stress won’t help our immune systems, and anxiety rooted in things outside of our control will drive us mad.
That’s all to say I truly hope you‘re finding the time for some well-deserved moments of joy. 💛
