Where did the notion that "sales is the only thing that matters" in American culture come from? It predates Trump of course, but got stronger with him. It was not always true! The Founding Fathers were not sales-y types, they were intellectuals!

True, that's why before the fact you can't bet everything on elections. There really is high stakes for steal/fraud.
Which president & party has talked about rigged elections for almost a decade now? The idea Trump is going to sit on his hands for 2 years & let Dems win fair & square no one honestly believes.

Shows how powerful the cultural complex of The West is, still. Immigrants fall over each to hate newer ones to seem "in".

Congrats to $AAPL shorts. It was so obvious I didn't think it would work.

The market may rally hard if Dems get only 49 Senate seats, even though that's a good outcome for them and it does mean the most extreme parts of the Trump agenda are dead, if just Collins and Murkowski cross over.
I get where this is coming from but like at the same time I do feel like we have to remember that a year ago, “Democrats pick up more than 2 Senate Seats” was the “impossibly optimistic” outcome

The president has previously promised on multiple occasions similar checks of $2000-$5000 from tariff revenues and DOGE cuts, however none ever materialized. axios.com/2025/11/17/200… abcnews.com/Politics/trump… nbcnews.com/politics/doge/… 13newsnow.com/article/news/n… nytimes.com/2026/09/10/us/… In fact, when asked about these checks at later dates he pretended he never promised them. masslive.com/politics/2026/…

If Indian Americans join the Dem party they get wins and laurels. If they join the Trump side they get insults and losses. What's their incentive if they are smart?
I had no idea there was even an Indian-American running for Governor in Vermont.

America is not uniquely incapable, but America is kind Brazil/South Africa level on this. I think it's because America is so wealthy even dumb people get good life outcomes, so they think themselves to have good judgment.
Replying to @admcrlsn
Are Americans uniquely incapable of identifying hucksters, or is every country like this?

If you're bullish, you want indexes to fade to red right here and tomorrow too. If you're bearish, you want indexes to close green today and tomorrow.

I'm sticking to my plan described before the fact. It's bearish that stocks are rallying so hard today (and likely tomorrow). I would have preferred them big down to set up a big buy.

This complicates the story. Stocks are weakening after starting off strong. What to do?

Long bonds and consumer discretionary ripping is a paradox (solvable through some mental gymnastics but still).

Classic, $DJT squeezing up right before the last Trump election.
