β hmm.. yeah, guess so. β
part of him hates it, how easily robert has become someone he.. values of the opinion of, as well as finds.. comfort in his presence. why else would he call when.. like this.
β ha, usually i'm the one cracking those jokes. β
he half teased β
and that almost made it worse, robert taking him seriously where so many just.. don't or refused to. being seen.. ugh he hates it.
well, hates the vulnerability within it.
β i mean it is. β
he mutters, sipping his drink, fidgets moments after, to keep his hands busy. β
β robert is a good man, something visi isn't sure he himself can be.
it's a struggle, to see the good in the world.. z team helps, robert helps but.. for how long?
how long until old habits pull him back in?
β you're soft.. β he doesn't say it in a bad way. β how β
it was easy for vis to downplay his emotions... if he doesn't do it someone else always does, or at least that had always been the case.
until recently, until the team. of course they give each other shit but.. it's different.
β probably just overreacting.. β
it's β
β mumbled, looking down, avoiding eye contact. eyes, the fucking windows to the soul and all that.
fidgeting, fingers tap the table a handful of times, like he's trying to stall, buy time, get his thoughts to play nice.
β guess 'm just waiting for the shoe to drop.. β
β i do.. insist, so let me help.. yeah? β
it also served the purpose of staying longer.. occupying his mind, while repaying a debt to her.. even when she'd say he doesn't owe her a thing..
he feels like this is the least he can do. with everything she's done for the team, him.
thankfully it'd been easy enough to dodge people on the way back, even with a slight crowd on their feet.
β not serious enough for me to be texting you like that.. wasting your time cos i'm an idiot. β
ah, self depreciation; his wheelhouse when anything gets remotely β
β vulnerable.
that selflessness is what made it easier to text him.. at this hour, off the clock, when he really should be resting. powers or not.. robert is.. reliable.
not something visi is used to. having anyone to rely on.
a sip of his own drink, fingers tap, once.. β
old bastard was gonna get hurt regardless.. behaving that way.
( a shrug, pausing for a moment - he could've made so many inappropriate jokes, but didn't.. for now. )
ha- i guess you've got a point, he kinda went down swinging in the worst way.. you're not that old, yet.
