My dear friends, please, I hope to demand your absolute attention to this matter: In 2018, my junior from St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, Dr. Randall Sequeira (middle in the pic), trekked up a steep, bauxite-rich plateau in Odisha to hold a monsoon health camp in the indigenous Kutiya Kondh village of Kutrumali. In a piece he wrote then titled "Kutrumali’s Demons," Randall described sleeping under a dripping school roof in freezing fog, borrowing utensils from a local health worker to cook khichdi, and waking up at 6 AM to a line of tribal mothers. He wrote with heartbreak about treating malnourished toddlers with protruding bellies and visible ribs, listening to stories of stillbirths and chronic fevers, while noticing the shiny new solar lights installed by a mining conglomerate eyeing the aluminium ore beneath the villagers' feet. Comparing his small medical team to hobbits sheltering in the night, Randall worried about the outside forces coming for that fragile village. Randall stayed with the tribal/ adivasi community to serve them. After St. John’s and an MD in Internal Medicine from SMS Jaipur, he gave up every comfort of urban medicine to live in Kalahandi, recognizing that clinical prescriptions are meaningless when indigenous communities are stripped of their forests, water, and dignity. On the night of October 16, Odisha police picked up Dr. Randall Sequeira and Dalit activist Laxman Naik at 11 PM from his home in Bhawanipatna. A gentle physician who has spent years trekking up hills to save tribal children is now locked in Rayagada sub-jail under frivolous but draconian charges (attempt to murder, dacoity), simply for standing with Adivasis peaceful protesting the mining of their sacred hills in Sijimali and Kutrumali. thewire.in/rights/randall-se… Odisha Govt. said it will cut down forests to connect tribal villages. But it was a way to bypass green laws and fast track London based Vedanta’s, and Adani's mining plans. Local organisations estimate that around 45 villages depend on these hills and would be affected. reporters-collective.in/trc/… The state has answered with repression rather than dialogue. In the last three years, at least 43 police cases have been filed and over a hundred Adivasis and Dalits, both women and men, have been incarcerated in Odisha jails. For example, from In March and april 2026, 8, 2026, to April 8, 2026, within one month, 24 people were sent to jail, 217 were made accused, and the number of “others” total 1,140. An activist who was not named in the original FIRs, but has since been implicated in about 12 cases, so that bail in one case is followed by arrest in another. This pattern of capture and releases have been used to crush rational dissent. Dr. Randall understood that being a good doctor means understanding that prescriptions cannot compensate for the denial of land rights, that surgery cannot undo displacement and that no medical can substitute for the basic infrastructure a government has failed to provide. thehindu.com/sci-tech/health… To my fellow medical fraternity, and every citizen with a conscience: a kind physician who embodies the highest ethics of our profession is being criminalized to clear the way for bauxite mining. Please do not let his voice be buried in a sub-jail. Amplify this, demand due process, and demand the immediate release. Please sign in this form to show solidarity: forms.gle/o2Rj2Uu3tXaoWu9dA If anyone can help out in this situation please reach out to Medico Friend Circle - mfcindia.org/

A few days ago Parvez Parvaz died in jail. He had recorded the hate speech which led to Adityanath’s 11 days in jail and tears in Parliament. Parvaz fought to keep the legal case alive. After Adityanath became CM a rape case was filed against Parvaz. caravanmagazine.in/politics/…

As I always say, lynching is one of the most brutal forms of violence on earth: being humiliated in public, beaten to death and stripped of every last shred of dignity. 1,743 incidents in ten years, predominantly perpetrated by Hindu nationalists against Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis, Christians and other marginalised communities. Reading @khan_zafarul ’s extraordinarily well-documented book, I recall the many nights I spent watching horrific videos of lynchings before writing our reports. I remember my colleagues and contributors who visited the victims’ homes and spoke to their families in their most devastating moments. I remember our video editors sitting at their laptops for hours, watching this brutality unfold, watching members of their own community being killed. I remember meeting Zafarul Islam Khan at his home six years ago, when he was preparing the report on the 2020 Delhi pogrom. Now, he has documented this horror too. An extraordinary person who keeps pushing beyond his own limits to fight injustice in these times. Buy the book. Read it: pharosmedia.com/books/produc… Watch @MaktoobMedia senior sub editor @Fathima15Fida’s video on the book.
A 744-page book, Mob Lynchings in India: A Record, 2014–2024, by veteran journalist and Muslim leader Zafarul-Islam Khan documents 1,743 incidents of mob lynching across India between 2014 and 2024, covering the first two terms of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, and describes lynchings as a “unique form of terrorism” and a “new normal” that has disproportionately targeted Muslims, Christians and Dalits. We spent months investigating the inner working of the EC. What we found: the majority of the Commission, kept in the dark for almost a year. Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi objected on record at least 14 times in 10 months, FOUR times on a single day, to decisions taken in the Commission's name without their knowledge. Here is what they flagged: (3/10) indianexpress.com/article/ex…

This girl, Sunita Oraon, hails from the tribal community and is a former gold medalist in national volleyball. Today, she works as a sweeper at Ranchi Stadium. Her salary is 10,000 rupees and she doesn't receive it for months. As a nation, we have failed. Chief Minister Hemant Soren should give her a permanent and respectable job, or else resign from his post. 💔

With grave concern, I bring to the attention of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha ji about the recent passage of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 by Parliament. This legislation poses a serious threat to #Odisha's fiscal autonomy and constitutional rights over its natural resources. The provisions introduced in this Bill will disproportionately impact mineral-rich states like Odisha, leading to massive revenue losses and stifling our state's developmental agenda. The Amendment raises critical concerns through the provisions: Encroachment of State Land and Fiscal Jurisdiction, Restriction on State Revenue Powers and Delegation of Power to the Centre. Odisha's natural wealth belongs to her people, and the revenue generated from mining operations is crucial for financing healthcare, education, social welfare schemes, and infrastructure development across the state. By stripping the state of its power to impose taxes and cesses on its own mineral-bearing lands, the Union Government has dealt a heavy blow to federalism and state revenue autonomy. Given the gravity of this situation and its long-term adverse implications for Odisha's economy, I strongly urge Shri Majhi to convene an All-Party Meeting immediately to build a unified consensus on safeguarding Odisha's federal rights and mineral revenues. Urge you to summon a Special Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly to formally pass a unanimous Resolution opposing this Amendment Act and protesting the Union Government's usurpation of state powers. Fiscal autonomy is a constitutional principle built into our federal system. This Bill directly undermines a critical pillar of the Centre-State relationship, taking India's federal structure in a distinctly retrogressive direction and striking at the foundation of cooperative federalism. This issue transcends political affiliations, as it directly impacts the financial stability and future growth of Odisha. If the Central Government takes away the State's authority over mineral-bearing lands and its right to levy cesses, only pollution, displacement and burden of mining will remain with Odisha, while the benefits are taken away from its people. I hope you will act swiftly in the paramount interest of the people of Odisha.

Mohan Majhi meets Karan Adani, son of Gautam Adani. Next day, Parliament passes MMDR Amendment Bill through voice vote. Now this Bill retroactively makes even pending tax/cess dues of mining companies invalid. Odisha is set to lose atleast 1 lakh crore. Happy Independence Day

There is much more to this than meets the eye. A compromised PM was forced to sell India’s interest. India is paying a huge price.

"Again their names were selected through a secret Algorithm." Why is Election Commission & GoI being So Discrimanative towards their own Citizens ?

War: India Sent More Than 3,000 Weapon Shipments to Israel A report by Amnesty International, confirmed by the Indian government, shows that Israel received 2,596 confirmed shipments of weapons between October 2023 and November 2025. These transfers did not stop there. As the organization has confirmed that exports and joint supply chains remain active in 2026, even after repeated international warnings, I dare to state that the total number of shipments, including those conducted in secrecy and those from 2026, exceeds 3,000. This places India’s military industry as an active participant in the devastation of Gaza, alongside those of the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other European countries. In June and July 2026, Amnesty International sent official notifications to the Indian state and to nine companies involved, demanding explanations. No response was received from the authorities by the time the document was published. Meanwhile, the partnership between India and Israel continues to consolidate. In June 2026, senior officials from Israel’s Ministry of Defense made official visits to India to align regional security interests and strengthen industrial ties. Indian companies operate in partnership with Israeli defense giants such as Elbit Systems, producing armaments under the Made in India policy. Cheap Indian labor is precisely what these corporations seek. But the exports were not carried out solely by Israeli companies operating in India; they directly involved the Indian government and public-sector companies. There were direct shipments of weapons manufactured by enterprises owned by the Indian state itself and controlled by the Ministry of Defense, such as MIL and Yantra.  Even when production is carried out by an Israeli company operating inside the country, these weapons cannot leave India without explicit approval from the government in New Delhi. India’s Ministry of Commerce and its customs authorities had to issue specific military export licenses for each of the shipments sent throughout the conflict. The Indian government has stated that the country maintains a robust export-control mechanism and that all military transactions comply with international obligations and laws. However, there is no dispute over legality here, the core issue is the morality of the act itself. New Delhi is deepening ties with the Israeli defense industry, which already accounts for 15% of the country’s arms imports.  Read more: open.substack.com/pub/global…
