they were wasting our usage this whole time and try to paint this as an improvement 😅
I remember for many months getting this feeling of unease about not keeping track of everything my agents were doing as I started vibe coding more and looking less at code
over time I have gotten used to it and it's much easier to accept the reality that you don't have to track everything, focus on the happy paths and the core functionality
you may forget to follow up on something, you may miss that some agent did something in a way you wouldn't exactly
but it's all part of the process of delegation. I'm sure managers and CEOs experience the same kind of growing pain. I've heard hank green say something like this about growing a company.
it's finally time for gaming on the browser
It’s official: 5.9 is happening and it's coming in Preview next week.
It’ll include improved AI workflows, web as a target platform, rendering and animation updates, plus more.
We’re making a few changes in 5.9 branch over on GitHub, and more will come in over the next few days. More details coming soon!
every mistake an agent makes is an opportunity to update agents.md or a skill file, or create a lint rule or some other kind of hook that catches the issue if it is easy enough to detect programmatically
I spent the whole day managing 5+ opus sessions until I got enough decision fatigue to spin up a fable session and told it to take over and manage them and only it is allowed to ask me questions
works like a charm!
there is absolutely no reason for claude to default to 1M context except making people hit usage limits faster
How much does context rot cost on agentic coding tasks? We prefilled 250k–500k tokens of context and ran GPT-5.6 Sol and Claude Opus 5 on terminal-bench tasks to find out.
Sol performance drops significantly at longer contexts, even when the context is completely unrelated to the task. Opus 5 holds flat on unrelated context but degrades when the context is related.
Sol also experiences catastrophic failures at long context: it gets confused while working on the new task and suddenly answers a question from earlier in the context and ends its turn! 🤯

these off by one mistakes are everywhere if you are autistic enough to look for them lmao
in my country if there's a weekly event people say "see you 8 from today" which is one of the most peculiar instances of this. I guess the person that invented this phrasing counted the present day as well!
there seems to be a concerted marketing effort where everyone is pushing astra's 3D skills with unreal and blender
it must mean they aren't able to highlight its coding proficiency
it's interesting to read really old recipes and notice how the reader was assumed to have a solid first principles understanding of cooking
you weren't guided step by step or with exact quantities
thinking about it, it was very akin to a natural language prompt, vibe cooking, which these days is exclusive to professional chefs
so the act of cooking evolved in reverse from programming, which is toward a technical language with very granular specifications
that's what happens when humans are the computer the code runs on, and as you broaden an audience they don't necessarily get smarter
I think videogames are incredible tools for young brain development, but once you reach diminishing returns on the signal they can provide you about reality, they're no longer for you
these days playing games is mostly a waste of time. I immediately feel the grind and futility occupying most of the session
of course wasting time can be fine, but as a regular occupation it's much wiser to allocate your videogame time to physical activity
as much as I would like to build a traditional game, I think it's time to move on from that teenage goal and accept the reality that I shouldn't try to build something that I wouldn't enjoy or find useful
I suppose you can still do it as a gift to younger generations however!
all of this only applies to traditional games though, by which I mean sitting down in front of a screen
john carmack plays a lot of beat saber and listens to sci fi audiobooks while on walks. that's exactly what I mean
this guy is a great aviation industry storyteller and unfortunately got a one in a million disease
instead of backing down his family is bravely seeking experimental trials he could participate in
hopefully we work toward a future where reaching a wide audience isn't a factor in getting access to cutting edge interventions

sorry that I haven't been very active on here, months of managing multiple coding agents with no revenue drove my sympathetic system to an activation threshold low enough that OCD acquired escape velocity and I entered a reality state where my worst nightmares are all true and I have to solve them immediately but also there is no solution
if anyone is curious, I can absolutely confirm that after much continuous, deathly intense deliberation, no one has any idea why we are here
the good news is I can go back to being a well adjusted human like yall currently are by training my threat detection system to go lowkey again and behave like the ape lost in dark forest it is once again
I want to feel intense inescapable all encompassing horror if a stranger is waiting outside my shower, not sitting on the couch
and yes, OCD is not about wanting to keep things neat. though I have to say i did align my slippers as a child. and I also was always peeing cause I didn't like feeling my bladder. and I was terrified of the clouds cause my parents said at any moment jesus would return and take everyone I love and I convinced myself I was staying behind and going to hell.
if you really hate someone, don't wish for them to die, hope they have OCD instead
I pushed myself too hard and ignored the signs of stress for too long, and my body has now forced me to take a little break
I thought I could just pull an elon musk and push through late nights with no revenue, but alas I have been humbled by the universe and will set strict routines going forward
I still have comfortable runway and will keep working on Ink & Quill which is entering a distribution phase as I wrap up the final touches (next step is adding a nice onboarding)
