The engineer overseeing seven agents has not finished a thought since november 2025. he is just tabbing. typing "proceed". hitting enter. his brain is soup and his wrists are finished and he has no opinions about civilization he is too tired for opinions. and meanwhile civilization is growing out of him like he is dirt and he doesnt even notice because this pr is full of reward hacked slop again. the manual programmer has read eleven books this year about clean code and he is the code smell and the books are the evidence and he will understand this at fifty eight working in a codebase that is very clean and making very little money

I’m significantly older than you. I started coding in the late 60s. My current strategy is to not read any of the code written by my agents. That’s the only way I can take advantage of their productivity. What I do instead is to surround the agents with extreme constraints. Unit tests, gherkin tests, QA procedures, quality metrics, mutation testing, test coverage, and a plethora of others. In the end, I have very high confidence in the code they produce because they’ve had to run the gauntlet of all of my constraints and tests.

We are looking for engineers, welders, and workers ready to follow us to the ends of the Earth and build classical megastructures that defy this age of apathy.

in the midst of "we’re so back", I found there was, within me, an invincible "it’s so over"

If they really start to gatekeep who gets to use the best models, that is a declaration of war. This prospect fills me with the most sincere, bodily cypherpunk will-to-power that I've ever felt (at least since I was a teenager). If they really go down this route, I would go all-in on building the most psychotic swarms of open-source models and fine-tunes possible, all geared toward a Chaotic Good jamming of the entire institutional public sphere. If we didn't do that, all of political life and the marketplace of ideas would be over before we know it. It's one thing if the top models become too expensive for me or others to use (I'm already pricing that in, and if you can't build something profitable enough to climb that ladder as it gets pulled up, then that's fair enough). But if the ladder gets pulled up politically, now, so only select institutional players get access to the most intelligent models, then any mature American man should be as energized as gun collectors are around the 2nd Amendment, or liberal women are around Planned Parenthood.

the undisputable fact is that it is getting easier to get into the market, the cost of entry is lower so there is going to be a flood of simple apps it's going to be impossible to become profitable with any tool that can be prompted for easily so to be future proof one has to - build things that the model can't build without your help (this is going to get harder and harder) - have ideas and context and real life experience that models don't have, and be fast enough that no one can catch up with you by copying you (or make it hard to copy) - accumulate assets that can't be copied or stolen: data, community, bureaucratic/policy advantages (which are a bad thing but likely to stick around)

I’m afraid you are wrong. It does not matter what I do with the tokens, the only variable here is maximizing the occupation rate of my attention now you could say I could spend more attention on less tokens, but that is degrowth doomer mentality the entire point of this era is maximizing human potential, this is why you exist in the first place the only benchmark that matters is how many tokens I can spend while producing high quality, useful code we can define non-wasteful code by that which I would end up with regardless of how long it would take me to obtain it now every human will have a different number of tokens where their attention is maximized, and granted I am likely in the top 10% at the very least, but at the same time I am also on your most expensive plan but you need to stop thinking about this in terms of how many tokens you need to produce something useful. Remember what you were put on this universe for: improving human welfare by maximizing individual potential and that means maximizing the % of individuals that can fully occupy their attention by subscribing to one of your plans, assuming an optimal zero-waste workflow (as defined earlier) we can go further and talk about optimizing for how much it costs to fully occupy one’s attention, which interestingly (we live in a simulation) is less the younger and less experienced you are (so difficulty scales elegantly in the game of life), but for now let’s just assume that $200 should be a fair value for a motivated capable individual. The question here is all about how much you agree with this assumption. I wrote this is with absolutely zero AI to be clear. I type out every single character on here, thanks for your time!

A world that’s 100% electrified, with air/sea ships for long-distance travel, high-quality VR/telepresence, rent-over-own society, high mobility, hyperloops, rewilded/reforested countrysides, fake meat without factory farmed farting cows... as exciting a vision as colonizing Mars
